Despite our views which seem to obviously differ, I can't help but wonder if this was an intentional move on the government's part to distract from things like the presidential election and the TPP. Was even a single trans person involved with this decision? Because as far as I'm aware, prior to this, they just went where they felt the most comfortable anyway and there weren't really any problems.

If we're supposed to be weeding out weak links then why are we keeping babies with genetic disabilities alive?

Ever so slightly curb the growth, perhaps, but homosexual people not reproducing is an extremely minor influence on human population. You would probably have to look forward tens of thousands, if not millions of years, to see a sizable difference. (Assuming there are no natural disasters or other things like food and space shortages that hamper the population, which there will be.)

This is only the start. As our population grows and our living conditions condense people will for a lack of a better term "get gayer". That is atleast my conspiracy theory of the day. Only the extreme alpha males will get all the women. We're sort of heading there now I think.

And Omg I wonder that same exact thing. Trans people have been around probably thousands of years. Over 200 women fought as men in the Civil War and Obama has had 8 years and picks just now to bring it all up. I don't think anyone right or left was thinking or caring about trans people one way or another 1 year ago.

O.K., well don't take this as an insult, but rather as something of a public service reminder.
I don't know where you live, west coast I'd think but I don't know. And yea, the "coasts" are a new world.

But just to be aware, I live in Texas, one of the "Old World" States, and these "guys" or whatever you want to call them try this in most of Texas, they're going to be in for a very rude surprise. And I don't mean a surprise from the men who I'd guess you assume are homophobic neanderthals, but rather from Texas women who can go from 0 to full on Biotch in 7 seconds or less and a lot of them are BIG women and by that I mean tall and muscular. So much so that the "surgery" might not even be necessary after what happens.

Just a friendly heads up from a not so progressive state.

I already seen something g close to that. Ithe was in a club and a drunk guy thought he would try the transgender route and use the womens rest room. Thought it was funny until for girls started kicking his butt. When he ran out fleeing for his life with a group chasing him finally the bouncer came to his rescue and escorted him out. Have to admit we laughed our head off.

Hmmm, so 3 trannys with deep voices walked in the bathroom and the kids were frightened and scared for their safety? Did the trannys expose themselves or offer to buy the kids?

Why is this an issue?

Just because it's not an issue with You doesn't mean it wasn't an issue to the little kids.

If they are genetically male, what is wrong with using the Men's bathroom?
I don't see how wearing face paint and a different set of clothes gives a person the right to go into a bathroom meant for people of the opposite gender.

Does that mean that if I wear a puppy suit or gorilla suit and sit in a pet cage, that I can travel in the cargo hold of a plane at a reduced cost from a regular ticket?

If I dress up as an endangered species and commit a crime does that mean the cops can't shoot me?

That's not entirely true. If they "passed", and they were in places where no one knew them - they usually had no problems. If they didn't pass so well, it was much more difficult. Sometimes they were transitioning while they were working someplace and assuming they didn't get fired for it (many have), they might have been told by their employer that they still had to use the same bathroom they used before they transitioned. Some school districts (in the more conservative areas) have forced trans students to use the restrooms/lockers of their born sex.

There have been states and cities that have recognized this problem, and had passed non-discrimination laws that included transgender people years ago. But of course, there are many states that have not. After marriage equality became the law of the land, there has been a bigger push from the trans community to have their rights recognized throughout the country - hence the push to pass these same non-discrimination laws in more and more places. Unfortunately, those places aren't havens for equal rights (conservative states), so that's why we're seeing so much in the news about it now- the conservative leaders of those states are pushing back in an attempt to stop these non-discrimination laws from passing. We've also seen the push back from these conservative states regarding the Federal guidelines on how schools should be treating their trans students. Never mind that the more liberal states have been following these guidelines all along with no issues.

Neither are planes, trains or automobiles. And you don't see guns in nature either. Not natural!

Planes fly in the sky, not swim in the sea.
Trains ride on tracks, not the freeway.
Automobiles are not bicycles.
Guns have restrictions on where they can be used.

This is why this situation is where it is. Logic failure to justify everything.

I'm going to transition into a doberman. And bark from midnight till 6am. And if anyone complains, you're a bigot.

Yeah gender dysphoria mumbo jumbo can take a leap, you are what you are, no amount of Frankensteinian hack jobery is gona change the DNA. My brain told me when I was a kid I had an invisible friend. Did that make him real? Hell no!

When I grew up, I wanted to be a fire truck.
You hav'nt grown up bud! Perhaps one day, you can still be a firetruck. Lmao! I'm sooo sick of this DNA BS! Have you or all you who are against transpeople ever had your DNA scanned???? I bet NOT! I know for a fact! If you did, you may be shocked by the results! Oh and btw how many of you have actually met a transperson before???? I'm betting the answer to that is none! Have you ever sat down and had a beer eith one? Talked about ...whatever...before you judge people, how about acrually meeting a few first! And on a final note. This site primarily is for people who are interested in aliens, yes? You really think aliens are EVER going to reveal themselves to us? We can't get along with each other! Imagine it for a minute. The day we've all waited for! Aliens are finally landing in washington. The hatch opens and out comes a being...wait a min! I don't think i like the way it looks...and what's this? They're not male or female? Well we better not let rhem play in any reindeer games! You people are pathetic!

People are so worked up about this issue. I'm glad I live in a place where nobody even gives a flyin $&$K about these irrelevant issues. Even when laws like these are passed you think where I lived people actually have reason to follow them? No. I'm thankful for where I live because it's a no bull town. People don't change things because it's worked here since 1864. Also there's a lot more people willing to stand up for somethin they believe in here. While you all bicker I'm gonna load up my kayak and go paddle and never have a care about this issue again haha. Bottom line is either way no one is gonna be happy because one person is denied their rights. Go cry!!

If they are fully transitioned nobody cares because they can't tell, but if they are on there first day of hormone therapy, and they do it just because it's within their rights, they are just inviting scorn and ridicule.
I know if a female member of my family complained there was male in a public washroom while I was waiting for them, I would defend my families dignity in some way, maybe it would include calling the police or local security to let them react to it, so at least I could say I tried to do something.
Sorry but their rights don't supersede other womens rights, and people need to understand that.
I wonder how the feminists feel about this, are they torn or are they standing by there peers that are offended or uncomfortable with this.

Now if female enters a male washroom I don't care, because nobody is worried about them molesting or perving out in there. There going into a private stall anyways. Maybe there is a huge lineup in the womens washroom, and they joke "I am being transgender for 5 minutes", I would just laugh and carry on.

What happens when a transgender male (born female, transitioning to male, male hormones, no surgery) who looks like a male goes into the women's room? What will you do when your female family member complains that there is a male in the restroom? How will you know if it's really a male or if it is transgender male? Are you going to demand they pull their pants down so you can see?

The better question we are asking you, who bend over backwards for abnormal people/freaks of nature/chemically imbalanced who represent such a small statistical percent is, why should we risk messing up the psychological makeup of children?

Bend over backwards? Whatever do you mean by that? I am allowed to go to the bathroom that matches my gender. How is that bending over backwards?

We risk messing up the psychological makeup of children every time we send them to church - and that is much more exposure than the small infinitesimal chance of coming across a transgender person in a public restroom for the 2 minutes or so that one is in the bathroom.

If a kid gets psychologically messed up by walking past a transgender person in a restroom, they have a lot more problems that need to be addressed.

Non-discrimination laws protecting transgender people have been in effect in this country long before Obama was president, so you'll have to blame someone else for that.

I'm not blaming anyone. Transgender people have been using whatever bathroom they want for decades, now it's suddenly a big issue?

If anything it's a big distraction and Obama is just giving pedophiles more leverage.

Let me get this straight - she quit because she was no longer able to defend the civil rights of transgendered individuals?

Because - she encountered transgendered individuals in a restroom and they made her feel uncomfortable?

Good riddance - with logic like that, the ACLU is better off without her

She might as well have quit because some people are uncomfortable around black folk - and their rights should be considered too
