Mainak Sarkar had a somewhat odd background that deserves scrutiny. He had come to the US from India in 2000 to pursue post-graduate education. He spent two years at the UofT/Arlington for two years, then another two years at Stanford, and then in 2009 to UCLA to complete his PhD.

www.everipedia.com...
DHS’ electronic records show he obtained three student visas between 2001 and 2008 to engage in masters and doctoral programs in the U.S.

Where did he get the money to pay for all this high-priced education? He didn't have family money behind him. He worked in the US at times, but he also had to pay all the living costs. Was somebody sponsoring him? Why did he get a student visa to come to the US in 2000?

Mainak Sarkar married Ashley Erin Hasti in 2011, though they separated a year later. Curiously, they never bothered to get formerly divorced:

www.startribune.com...
The couple split about a year later and Hasti moved back home to Brooklyn Park.
“They just didn’t get along,” (grandmother Jean)Johnson said. The two didn’t divorce because Hasti couldn’t afford one, Johnson said. Hasti was in medical school at the University of Minnesota and expected to graduate next spring.

She can afford to go to medical school but can't afford a quickie divorce. Hmmm.... I wonder if this wasn't somehow a sham marriage to allow Sarkar to stay in the country. Tellingly, there is no evidence that Hasti ever took the Sarkar name as her surname.

----------------------------

On Hasti's death:

www.scpr.org...
The date and time of her death were listed as 1:25 a.m. on June 2nd, the date and time when she was discovered.
"Because this was an unwitnessed death, a more accurate date and time of death cannot be determined," the report stated.

Huh? Isn't the medical examiner supposed to determine time of death? This is important because Hasti had to have been dead long enough for the suspect to have had time to make the 1700 mile drive to LA from Minneapolis.

Here are the posts of people who were listening to live scanner feeds of police transmissions in real time. They speak to an alternative version of events--events more reminiscent of a covert op than a real event.

"It went from 4 active shooters in 4 corners of campus with 2 people dead and 7 wounded to only a murder suicide?"

"Reports of a female with the male suspect...
4 SHOOTERS. 3 males, 1 female. Starting to sound like terrorism."

"According to an RA, there is someone in Sproul and there is a hostage situation near Hilgard. Additionally, a SWAT team has surrounded Bunche Hall."

"4 shooters, 3 male, 1 female. Headed toward the dorms. One make described as wearing all black 6 feet tall..."

"It seems that there is now an incident south of Campus at the VA hospital"

"Code 6 - Units have arrived at the VA hospital"

"According to a CSO officer, there is one person in north campus, one in south campus, one in the residential area, and one in the apartments."

"Math building - huge activity now as per scanner"

"Shots heard outside 2 dorms"

I was listening to the scanner pretty much the whole time.

They take reports as they come in... from freaked out people.. all over the place.

I heard "suspect walking outside dorm room"... probably some student had to take a pee.

They had suspects driving all over the place.

My advice... HUGE grain of salt.
