Aparently recently someone did their math:

The baktun is 144,000 days.There are 13 baktuns in the Mayan Calendar.

144,000 days x 13 baktuns = 1,872,000 solar days. Now the Gregorian calendar solar year is 365.2425

The Julian calendar solar year is 365.25 The Haab Mayan calendar solar year is 3651,872,000 days/365.2425 (Gregorian solar year) = 5125.36 years 1,872,000 days/365.25 (Julian solar year) = 5125.256 years and then here is the big difference….1,872,000 days/365 (Haab solar year) = 5128.76 years. Subtract 5128.76 years (Haab) from 5125.256 years (Julian) =READY……..

=3.504 year difference and that makes 1260 days.

This would mean that Dec 8th, 2012 (Julian calendar) is actually May 21st, 2016 (Mayan Haab calendar). Dec. 8th, 2012 plus 1260 days = 5/21/2016or Dec. 21st, 2012 (Gregorian) is actually June 3rd, 2016 (Mayan Haab calendar). Dec. 21st, 2012 plus 1260 days = June 3, 2016

They are not counting the days by true Mayan Haab 365 solar days but instead using the Gregorian and Julian solar days to arrive to the dates of Dec. 8th, 2012 (Julian) and Dec. 21st, 2012 (Gregorian) which shouldn’t have been done this way!

You guys ar wcomed to find any reliable sources. Apparently this was discovered recently. So we have just 2 more days

Apparently last week a guy entered a police station with a flad drive claiming the government lies about space while wearing chocolate blocks to imitate bomb vest. He also claimed 3rd is the end date.

In fact the Gregorian calendar is always off target and the elite function in terms of 30 day lunar cycles.

March is the first real month of every year.
September = Heptagon = 7 sided
October = Octagon = 8 sided
November = Nonagon = 9 sided
December = Decagon = 10 sided

Then there is a Russian mathematician (Anatoly Fomenko) that states that the Dark Ages never even happened which means this year is roughly 998 AD.

Romans used to put i before the year so i666 was 1666 when the devil went Twisted Fire Starter on Baker Street in London.

I flagged and starred you because June 3rd is just two days away

I hate when these end of the world types have dates 10+ years out... Good ole verifiable dates, those are the best. On June 4th you can come back and go "Darn it, I meant June 30, it was a typo" or something

Someone will be posting a new end date on June 4.

Yah, best not to stretch it out too long… anymore.

If you had said two months or two years it wouldn't fly.

But two days, thats an imminent crisis… isn't it.

Well this is recent because the person researching it found it out just last week.

I was windering why is not popular.. Maybe because 2012 passed long time ago and no one cares anymore

The cranks keep telling us The End Is Coming. Soon. Real soon. Any day now.. I mean it... Last chance. Oh, wait, we miscalculated.
Can we just get it over with?

Wait a minute... So a guy enters a police station with bars of chocolate imitating a bomb vest claiming the end of the world..
Do you really think this guy is a credible source?

The standard Roman method to track each year was to list it by who the Consuls were on January 1st. Also, they did not use Arabic numerals.

Not this again.

How many times can the end be near.

We need to redefine 'near' and 'end' or officially make the mayan calendar an 'objet d'art'

Er because it is the nut jobs and crackpots that are usually making claims like this..
Whilst we may have a few here, our community is made up of mostly grounded and intelligent people..

I just hope the guy wasn't anywhere around where I live (Florida). This is definitely the wrong season to wear chocolate clothing.
