We(veterans) all have DD214s. We know what we did and didn't do. Some guys are trying to sell their story and it just isn't good enough without wringing more badassery from the story.

I have awards that were never given to me, but I earned. Like my Air Crew member badge. Not only am I in an MOS that is awarded the ACMB at graduation, but I also have more than enough combat flight time to qualify for it.

It is nowhere on my DD214. Neither is my drivers badge. My German Schutzenschnur is one of the few foreign awards allowed to be worn on US Army ASUs, but it is not on my official record. Though I do have orders for all of it, I just couldn't get my S1 shop to do their damned jobs.

That said, this is either a bad case of clerical mishandling(which is amazingly common) or a embellishment to sell himself.

What difference does it make...

I'm starting to see a similar frame of mind in those that have never served.

murder people who were trying to kill U.S. Marines,

Trying to kill U.S. Marines who did not belong there, who are considered invaders, but I'm not getting into the politics; Suppose the corporations gave a war and no one came?

"Be the change that you want to see!"
It doesn't happen by killing everyone else!

Sometimes one's spoken opinion is bound to rile the 'true-believers'!

and I suppose you have never fired a weapon?

Completely irrelevant.

because "murdering people from a distance" with a rifle, is impressive,

I guess that's a matter of Perspective, of who and what you are, at the moment.
That you find; "murdering people from a distance" with a rifle" to be "impressive", stuns me with your psychopathy.

and he was obviously braver than you, and he is a hero, a REAL hero.

Your personal attack is symptomatic of a 'belief infection' feeling threatened.
An emotional reaction.
Even (some) psychopaths need heroes.
Immature people need 'heroes' to look up to.
Many think John Wayne Gacy was a hero!
And there are those on this very site who consider Hitler a 'hero'!
I'm not 'criticizing' your heroes (as such), just adding Perspective...
(Please don't shoot me.)
