Have you ever wondered just how many flags or posts a given topic would have if people no longer had flagging inhibitions.

I know I avoid flagging relevant and VERY controversial but relevant topics simply because I fear what it says about my flagging history/interests/footprint.

I think everyone surfing the web is just trying to be as careful as possible and tip-toe around those topics that are easily labeled as overly taboo, I know I am guilty. A lot of times the most interesting and relevant material for the subject at hand is also the most controversial. And that is okay. But at current we are not allowed to feel that way.

I know I have purposely avoided flagging topics pertaining to 9/11 and sandy hook simply because of a fabricated concept that this "flag" that I place is a pseudo-brick that I lay in support of the associated topic... I wonder how many people feel the same.

I wonder how many great topics could reach the light if this flagging footprint, whether real or fake; was addressed.

If this is not in the appropriate forum please move.

If it is not-applicable feel free to delete.

I just flag what I like because I didn't know anyone could see that.

I mean, I could discuss what a tank footprint is all day, but flag footprint?

I pay very little attention to the flag system and that is why I checked out this thread. I understand that this system is to somehow point out what is popular and as I have little interest in what is popular I give them little thought at all. No help? Well there you have it anyway.

I do remember experiencing a lot of fear when first coming to terms with the realities of 9/11, the shear scale of the crime and deception does rattles ones head quite a lot. Fear has also been a common reaction from many others when talking about 9/11.

But now I also fear about living in a world with no morals.

To me it does not matter, but now in the writer contest it matters. We have to get flags to see who's story was liked. My story is in the link in the bottom so flags matter for that, ok thank you!

I joined long before the flagging and atars were here. Had to wonder if it's what you said and it's just a way to keep track of our opinions, if that's what you meant? I think it is, since it's a darn good idea!

Personally I'm not a fan of flagging, I noticed how a thread might have been created with an attention grabbing headline , in order to give the OP. flags. It appears some people just need attention. " flag me".
I'm being accusatory there.
They get flagged simply because they've built up an image here of being some sort of specialist in the subject matter. They see their avatar and flag away.

Some people flag on impulse without having read the whole thread. I've done that myself and had to Unflag.

Not sure if you can Unflag now though. Not been here in awhile. Things change.

At any rate, yes it can affect whether you want to flag or not.

a reply to: mmshelt I think it is safe to flag controversial threads..
I just don't think flags are tracked and noted on who is giving them... only the ones received.

That is actually a good point and no doubt there are those who will pass on flagging or staring a thread topic because they are afraid they will leave a foot print. I figure if I took my time to read a post and it is not one of those who swears they saw Elvis in a dream then I usually flag simply for the entertainment value.. If one of the alphabet agencies ever wants to come after you they will just make stuff up anyway if they really want you. I always avoided certain things when I was younger because of a security clearance or just encase I wanted to run for some public office at some future date... any more as far as i am concerned I am way past caring what some paranoid skitchos in some agency wants to dream up an pursue. The more we give in, the more they will take, an soon enough we will not even have freedom of thought. IMO freedom of thought is already being controlled through intimidation and innuendo but let your own situation dictate you actions .

I don't flag anything unless it is something I didn't see on yahoo news and hit a cord with me. your thread I reply in but I did not flag it as it is not really something to think heavily about and I am really just that bored to reply, your thread sucks and does not deserve flags =O

I am not really sure that flagging history is something really heavily logged or cared about in the core of ATS.

Buy Brotherman comics or else

Are you saying you avoid flagging certain threads on ATS because you are aware of the record ATS makes of its member's flags, meaning governmental or other nefarious entities can garner this information and use it in part to create a psychological "fingerprint" exclusive to you and thereby making known to them without a doubt who you are and who they are tracking?

This is what they make known to you when you dig deep enough...don't reveal any important information exposing this dark underbelly of the elitist control structure, don't threaton said entity.

If anyone thinks this is conspiracy theorist popycock then please do get back to me when you get the response from all those people that "committed suicide" while at the same time having credentials and telling everyone that aforementioned dark underbelly is after their life.
