I bet Trump is gloating from within - I mean, the MSM have done and are still doing a superb job of keeping him in the spotlight almost to the point that it's irrelevant what the topic of discussion is - you couldn't put a price on that so as long as Trump gets at least a mention in the MSM then both pro and anti Trumpeteers seem satisfied they're getting their daily fix.

There will always be a tweet or a comment or an action that will keep Trump in the competition - Trump understands this very well and knows that humans, collectively, love a good bit of drama or gossip or intrigue or shenanigans - so at the end of the day for Trump it's all about ratings and popularity and exposure.

5 months to go, I wonder if the GOP establishment will try to use fiscal leverage to claw-back some lost face incurred over the past few months - get Trump to back-down and/or reassess certain key policies.

Get used to Trump blowing your minds.

It's not blowing our minds since we've all known what he's about for a while now.

I'm glad you find it so funny that he's selling out your values though. I suppose it should be your mind being blown, but you'd have to have a mind first.

4. If people think this is ok and still vote for him, they're voting for a known conman, cheat, swindler, double crossing liar who just lied to their face and is now stealing their money.

How is this a good plan???

You have just described virtually all politicians

Nope. The left is full of angels. Only the right has actual politicians apparently.

He did self fund through the nomination. He spend a fraction of what others spent, and his dollar to vote ratio has been insanely efficient. I don't think he planned to self fund all the way, though. It's really expensive. Look, Hillary just spent 1 million dollars to pay people to troll Reddit. That should say something about how expensive these campaigns are going to be. It's just not realistic to self fund all the way to November.

I'm about 80% sure the he even said in the debates that this is exactly what he was going to do.

The rich get broken all the time! Look at banks, corporations and the oil industry. (which we are told to be more viable than clean energy sources)

Only socialism for the rich can save him now!

He said from the beginning that he would self fund including in the general election, that's just not possible to do though. Anyone with some knowledge of the amount of money needed could tell you that. Trump has money but even he can't self fund a presidential run. Which really should say something about our system when a billionaire needs outside funding to stay in the race. In order to compete in this election which is starting to look closer to 2 billion rather than 1.5, Trump would need to liquidate 1/4 of his assets which is in the form of stock in his company. By doing so, he would sell out to his share holders who fund him.

It is literally impossible for him to self fund this, but he'll happily mislead you into thinking he would do so. Instead what he did, is he loaned his campaign money, knowing the primary only costs 2% of his total expenses. It's something he can easily repay in the general once the real money starts flowing. He makes his money back and in the end not just his primary but his general election are completely sold out.

It's for this same reason that his campaign is broke now, the scale of funding necessary has changed. He might have a million or two in his campaign but that represents only a few hours of a national campaigns budget where as it was months in a single state at a time.

Mexico isn't paying for his pipe dream wall that wouldn't do anything if it was even built. Why does the guy worth 10b need money from anyone when he has said over and over again he didn't? And save the primary line, he never said that. He said he won't take money from anyone because once you do, you owe them.

Couldn't we tax the billions in remittances people send home to Mexico?

If you find them sure. But if you're finding them, why aren't you just deporting them instead? Or punishing the employers, which would make the illegals unemployed and no longer drawing a check to tax.

Besides that, it would take a tax 100 years to pay for the wall (at 10%). The amount sent to Mexico is only $23 billion/year. And, budgets tend to be fluid, what makes you think the taxed money would go to the wall rather than to say... lowering your income tax instead?

Umm.

And how he get FREE publicity from all the media to talk about him and what he will do next.

He has ran MOST of his campaign that why already. Just say something controversial and get loads of FREE press.

Sounds like a man that now how to wheel and deal and get things done with out having to break the bank to do it.

He has spent a fraction of what the other GOP did and manage to beat the pants of them, by using THEIR funded campaigns.

Would not suprise me at all if he does manage to get Mexico to pay for a wall.

All he has to do is loan more money to his campaign.

Not sure what the issue is here...

Looks like more #nevertrump people stirring the pot.

LOL let me explain this so Chimps like "BigPoJo" aren't poisoning the naive mind's of many of these board members with bombastic stupidity. Trump doesn't have the cash to write himself, that's the point.

This is all actually very simple - and the Trump shill's across ATS should wake up, pull their head out of their ass and join the rest of humanity.

Having said that - it has been widely reported that although Trump does own at least $2.5 billion in assets (his real estate for the trump supporters) BUT, and this is a big BUT, he only has, maximum $200 million in liquid cash at his disposal. An election costs minimum $1 billion dollars, so at BEST he is $ 800 million short.

Additionally, Trump's actual annual revenue (after his enormous overhead etc - oh and for Trump supporters "overhead" means cost of running his businesses) is only an ASTONISHING $40 million at best. And while he only pulls in about $40 million in liquid cash annually, he spends at least double that on an annual basis on credit - leveraged off his assets.

Oh and here's the proof that ANYONE can look up.
"When you file your federal election campaign reports, you have to list all your cash and liquid securities and bonds. You have to list them one by one. So we know without any question that as of May 27, Donald doesn’t have more than $165 million in cash and securities and bonds."
