My post was not directed at you? It was a response to the motivation you invented for these authors?

If you think it is somehow personal, please alert the Mods?

Otherwise, I see you have opted not to answer the question.

Just gotta say, I'm a huge fan of Stephen King. One of the greatest authors ever. His books are amazing... and despite the general typecast that he's a horror writer, his stories are always filled with so much heart. And I LOVE that he's come out and again proven himself to be on the right side of history.

Well I find it ironic...

They say what does a wealthy celebrity know about being a leader... But they are one in the same right? Wealthy celebrities... Who are judging another one as if they are superior, or their thoughts are superior. Which, hold no weight after they mention or "democracy" when we have a constitutional republic...

FAIL

BTW, I'm blindly voting 3rd party.

They are not one in the same. They're not running for president. They're people signing an open letter. That's it. They're exercising their right to free speech. Why does celebrity status void a person's right to free speech? The only one calling them superior is you and other haters. It's just a letter.

Go back and read what you posted to me, it's not about my posts having any influence on anyone else, it's giving my thoughts on the subject. If you don't like my opinion, too bad. ~$heopleNation

I'm glad all of these authors have come forward to show their true colors. I'll be sure to return the sentiment in kind, and avoid them the next time I'm at the bookstore.

Exactly what part of that open letter do you disagree with?

Dear writers, thank you for your opinion.

Here's mine: Trump is heads and shoulders more palatable of a presidential nominee than Clinton or Sanders.

You don't speak for this American. Stop thinking that your opinions are any more valid than the rest of us.

I think the list of signatures is approaching 1000. Maybe you can print it out and carry it with you when you purchase books, go to the movies etc.?

This right here:

Because the rise of a political candidate who deliberately appeals to the basest and most violent elements in society, who encourages aggression among his followers, shouts down opponents, intimidates dissenters, and denigrates women and minorities, demands, from each of us, an immediate and forceful response;

What F-ing part of that accurate statement above do any of you disagree with? And what the F country do you want this to be, because you certainly don't want a United States of America.

No. Anyone who disagreed with anything Obama did was called racist as a means to try to shut them up. I remember. I was there and it constantly happened to me. I could give a flying rats ass what color Obama is, but I cared very much what his policies were and pretty disagree with almost all of them.

But every. single. time. I voiced that disagreement, I was called racist.

"You just don't like it because he's black." to be precise.

Now, I get it. It's much easier to say that than to think about why I might be disagreeing and whether or not those reasons could have some actual validity to them.

But it's simply a retread of the Bush lied so he's evil no matter what argument. It got new wheels for Obama, and now it's morphed into "ZOMG, TRUMP!" All it really means is "I like what I like and I don't want to think about why I like it." I can respect someone who actually says that, but don't try to employ sophistry to try to mask what's really going on.

And it's very simple: There is an agenda. It's the leftist one. People want a socialist, social justice state, and any means to an end will be employed to advance whatever you think will get that goal. No one is fooling anyone.

And, yes, when it comes to forcing everyone into that kind of life - socialist, social justice psuedo-utopia where everyone is told how to live, eat, think, etc., Obama has been very good at playing dictator, and Trump is partially an outgrowth of the backlash to that. Face it. Not nearly as many people as you'd like to think are happy being told how to live their lives and think about things.

Trump is partially a creation of your own movement's overreach in forcing others to be what and do what you want them to rather than simply leaving well enough alone, and I don't feel one bit sorry for any one.

Trump is truth. This letter is lies and full of diceit, just like Hillary Clinton. The authors sign for murdered soldiers left to die in Bengazi. I dont care about celebrities or consuming the rubbish. I dont want my taxes raised any further by Clintons or Obama.

They're just after him because he's winning. The globalist will stop at nothing to stop him. It's nothing more than a political trick, to win the hearts of the public vicariously, by using famous people, of whom they love.

What makes you think I like Hillary?

The question and point still remains. Why haven't they come out against her?

I don't like trump but its ridiculous how biased Hollywood is and narrow minded they are.

It's about pain tolerance. To many Hillary is an annoying rash...but Trump is an infected and open flesh wound. At some point the danger and pain compels one to make noise....and it shouldn't be confused with advocating for annoying rashes.

If you don't properly treat a rash, it remains itchy. Then you scratch it and cause an infected and open flesh wound.

Plenty of people on the left and right legitimately disagree with some of President Obama's policies? They haven't been accused of being racist?

But sure...Birthers that decide that since he is not lilly white, he must have been born in Africa (like Trump claimed), or those who claimed he had a "Black Agenda" or must be a Muslim etc? Terrorist fist-bumps yada yada..Those people are ignorant racists hiding behind BS.

Not complicated...

So basically, this a collection of hundreds of writers urging the American public to vote for Hillary. I just lost a lot of respect for some of these guys. I'd like to say seeing King's name on such a letter is unexpected, but it's not. I've read almost everything he's written and liked most of them, but politically he's surprisingly dense. Of course he was a literary professor in his early years so, indoctrination and all that..

Funny how once those (celebrities, writers, etc.) who get their money from the capitalist system, all of a sudden change party and go on a 'moral' rampage against the very thing that allowed them the opportunity to live their dreams through hard work...they've got theirs and the rest of us don't matter..right?

Not a democracy.

A Republic is what we were founded as, and still are.

The difference between a Republic and a Democracy are many, but one main difference is this:

A Republic protects the individual against the masses

A Democracy is the masses against the individual

Sad how some just follow what they're told and don't think for themselves....trusting the people voted into office implicitly, blindly and without question - when they who have been voted in have proven time and time again, they deserve no measure of real trust.

Trust, but verify.
