How about you help stay on topic?

Now, you may have a point about intellectuals ...

To whom was this snark aimed?

Stay on topic? LOL.

It's not "snark" it's an observation.

Do you know anyone we would normally tag culturally as an intellectual who is supporting Trump?

Let us in on it!

The Donald rose to the lead because it's the will of THE PEOPLE, some of which will no longer support Stephen King's paycheck for having done this.

I don't care for Trump but I believe in the people having a voice, even if that voice is, unfortunately, screaming "TRUMP!"

to Stephen King

Is that the consistent 62% of THE PEOPLE or so that have and still found him unfavorable in every poll?

Or is that fact just more "Anti-Trump propaganda"?

Clearly you have not read my pist. I admit bush did what I thought were war crimes and I was against them, along with the majority of the left wing biased entertainment industry. Then Obama did them, and the vocal entertainment industry was silent BECAUSE DEMOCRATS DID IT!!!! This is not saying only democrats commit war crimes, it is saying people like these authors are biased and overlook when there side (democrats) does it.

This is directly responsive to the thread. Go back and re-read my pists, I have said repeatedly what I think of these authors and trump.

Not agreeing with your post is not the same as not reading it. "The left wing biased entertainment industry" except for all the ones who aren't left wing. Very descriptive.

So, now you want to tie this list of authors to Democrats and Obama "war crimes" because ... they don't like Trump? Don't think he's good for the Country? Is there some demand that unless folks denounce the same things you do that they're not allowed to speak?

I've read your posts once, that's more than sufficient. OP was noting what had been said about Mr. Trump, by these authors, and they asked for commentary on that issue.

Obama's actions are just not the point here, right or wrong. Surely that's not difficult to comprehend?

Can those of us not burdened by partisan BS discuss this without the regular deflection, finger pointing, "mamby pamby"(yes, that's how you guy sound) annoyances?[BOTH SIDES] It's fatiguing to try to discuss something only to have a few "members" take it down the rabbit hole. Sorry but it's getting annoying to the Nth.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

You have a problem with my attempting to return the question to that offered by the OP? Namely what the Writers' letter said about Trump? Not Obama? Not the leftist entertainment industry?

If you have something to say about my "membership" status, I'd be glad to hear it in public or in private. If not, rest assured you're not the only one "annoyed" with how things go.

Which one of the points did you have the most problem with?

Which did you feel was the least realistic?

Were any of them valid criticisms of Mr. Trump?

Because they are American's and have a 1st Amendment right to such? It sucks when they happen to "make burtter wourds". Or are only certain people's 1st Am rights important?

Because we believe that any democracy worthy of the name rests on pluralism, welcomes principled disagreement, and achieves consensus through reasoned debate;

Like how Trump critics tried to have 'reasoned debates' trying to shut down hiss events ?

Big problem with that bull snip.

Because American history, despite periods of nativism and bigotry, has from the first been a grand experiment in bringing people of different backgrounds together, not pitting them against one another;

And we ALL know who created identity politics now don't we ?

DON't WE ?

We sure know who created PC.

We sure know who created the hypenated American moniker.

We sure know who pits blacks, against whites, Rich and poor against the middle. and the list goes on.

Because the history of dictatorship is the history of manipulation and division, demagoguery and lies;

Did they mean the FASCIST regime of FDR when he rounded up the japanese, and threw them in interment camps, and took all their possesions.

Or did they mean when FDR by decree said all the public gold, and silver was HIS for the taking.

After looting Fort Knox.

Because the rise of a political candidate who deliberately appeals to the basest and most violent elements in society, who encourages aggression among his followers, shouts down opponents, intimidates dissenters, and denigrates women and minorities, demands, from each of us, an immediate and forceful response;

Those idiots sure weren't paying ATTENTION to Occupy Wall Street,BLM,Ferguson, and the absolute BARBARIC behavior by Trump protestors for months.,

THAT AINT on Trump.

That is on the 'peaceful' LEFT.

Which as we ALL know is the only people that have a problem with Trump.

So No G.

I don't really give a ratts arse about what any hollywood writers have to say about anything.

He's lived and worked his whole life in Maine. That's about as far away from Hollywood as you can get and stay in the States. BUT, let's not let facts get in the way.

Ya, and he's on TV and Radio and in every type of media there is about 30 times a day. So I'd say he's being heard pretty good thus far.

Maybe a little too much in fact, because like we've mentioned a few times already, some of us keep catching him saying some pretty crazy stuff. You have chosen not to notice or even accept that he's saying these things though.

Forget the "Trump Critics" what about Mr. Trump himself? Has he done anything to suggest that he's open to achieving consensus or debating anything reasonably?

Identity politics and "PC" are no more than buzzwords at this point. We all cause division, you and I for example, are certainly part and parcel of that phenomenon ... but again, not you, not me, not the imaginary PC police ... what has MR. TRUMP done to bring people together? Or have we seen him doing more to pit groups against each other?

Again, you're criticizing these Writers for what they're not saying, but you're not addressing what they ARE saying about Trump. Are you saying that Mr. Trump has not appealed to violent images and language? he doesn't shout down opponents (did you watch any of the 20 or so Republican debates???) etc etc etc.

Your assertation is that only the "peaceful left" has a problem with Trump? Until a week or so ago, the leading Republicans in this country had a BIG PROBLEM with him ... and the kindest thing any of them called him was a "con man."

So no, it's not about the "left" it's not about the critics ... it's about Trump.

Either they have a point or they don't. And if you say they have no points at all, I think you're not being your most honest.

Gee; I wish it were as simplistic as that. It is shocking, shocking how anyone as dirty, deceptive and under investigation would have the hubris like Hillary to even think she could be president. And, it is shocking that no one goes after her. I don't personally like any of the candidates. However, King must be living in one of his weird stories. I never thought much of King's silly pablum that apparently appealed to the masses; but he is a weird guy. Trump has a lot of hubris and he is a bit scary. I hope he can take some of that crazy and scare all those kooks that Obama's been bowing too. I hope Hillary is indicted soon. Maybe King can set her up as a fiction writer because she is very good at that; she's one really scary ...

Not for anything, but what do "intellectuals" actually do?

Stefan Molyneux for one, maybe, he's a canadian atheist too.

I see that you and I post in a lot of the same threads ... but somehow, I'm sure you don't' count yourself among this group of what ... agitators? shills? problem "members"?

I'm posting in three or four threads at the moment ... how many are you active in?

And what, does any of this have to do with Trump or Stephen King? And why is it okay for some folks to make personal, insulting comments and not others?

Good questions all round.
