Nothing is easy and even nothing
can be hard for some.
So where is that empty boat
that just floats,
merryly in the ocean.
Whos direction is always set
in being now.
Invisible to many,
No captain needed.
No pirates aboard.
Sounds impossible,
But it most certainly is not.
All knots untied she sings
as she flows with the tides,
The gulls flys over and
only the odd one hitches a ride.
The stars above stare down,
on the crested sea.
There she is that empty boat,
That same one
that once carried you and me.
Happy either way,
just being free.

another wonderful song, thanks for sharing on ats.

after reading it and contemplating...I don't seem to figure good explanation or meaning for these lines.

The gulls flys over and
only the odd one hitches a ride.
The stars above stare down,
on the crested sea.

is it maybe a metaphor for...
even when boat is empty, it is there for anyone to see and free to take anyone along for a ride if we are odd enough to want to realize what is meaning of happiness and being free without conditions (knots, pirates, captain).
And at the end of the ride we have realization that we also have or are this empty boat and it is the same for you and me.

this is how it seems to me, but if i am wrong in my interpretation, I would be happy if you could correct me.
