The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is investigating an audio file claiming that a terrorist attack will be carried out in Trinidad during the Corpus Christi holiday. TTPS Head of Corporate Communications, Ellen Lewis said that the nation's security agencies are currently investigating the threat but have warned citizens to remain calm. "It has been received and we are seeking to determine the source and whether it is credible," she said to LoopTT. The police are also advising citizens to be warned that it may just be a hoax. "The intent is clearly to create panic and mischief as this is not the first (report) of its kind." In the audio, an unidentified man is warning citizens to stay away from the local shopping malls as he has received word of an impending terror attack. "They planning a strike to hit the malls in Trinidad, ISIS, either between Friday/Saturday, or Thursday, Friday, Saturday." The speaker said the families of those involved in the plan have already been notified and he warned others to tell their families to stay inside. The Minister of National Security, Edmund Dillon, also issued a call to all citizens to not be guided by rumours and remain calm and vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Dillon added that the Ministry of National Security and its agencies will continue to work together to do what is necessary to ensure the safety and security of all. More as this story is updated.
