Some people do accept new science. Other people still believe the earth is flat.
But, in this case its physical assault and possible hate crime.
Transgender is real. Backed up by science and specialist in the field.
We progress with knowledge.

then start a petition for transgender bathrooms.
why does everything have to be a hate crime? nothing about this incident was personal. neither of the parties knew each other. no politics involved, no sexual preference or religious affiliation. there is no hate crime involved here. in fact, im tempted to go use a ladies room right now and play the hate crime card just because im bored and lonely and in need of free sympathy.
but i wont, because i have class and thats just shameful behavior.
You decide if something is a hate crime or not? I don't think so.
Hate crime is basically a deterrent. Years past I did a lot of reading up on it. Its basically to make you keep your personal prejudices to yourself - - - and it works. It does what its supposed to. Few people have ever been convicted of it.
"Hate crime" generally refers to criminal acts that are seen to have been motivated by bias against one or more of the types above, or of their derivatives. Incidents may involve physical assault, damage to property, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse or insults, mate crime or offensive graffiti or letters (hate mail).
This security guard clearly used her own personal prejudice to physically assault this transgender woman.
Disabled restrooms are for the disabled. Transgenders are not disabled.

the transgender issue is an opportunity for attention whores (yes, i will use that label here) to provoke a response and then twist it to suit a political agenda - in this case, that people are being discriminated against based on something that is difficult to test and therefore difficult to immediately falsify, providing a window of victimhood such as we see in the article in question.
your knowledge of the matter is rather dubious given that your information comes from the internet. grandstanding is a glorious thing in the digital era. so forgive me if im more than a little skeptical.

You have prejudice against something you refuse to accept or understand.
Science/Specialists in the field of transgender are credible - - you are not.
And your knowledge on this particular incident comes from where?

its amazing how many inferences people have drawn from such a small article. but i guess now i just have to put on a wig and sing a shania twain song for a free pass to the ladies lavatory. good to know...in case i ever feel compelled to go there. i hope making jokes about the transgender condition isnt a hate crime also.

Hey, Yeah - - add your own drama to it.
Color it up to your liking.

This isn't an issue of equal rights. This is an issue special rights for a small group of people. It's not as if establishments are refusing to let transgender men use even the men's room. THAT would be a matter of equal rights. But, what about everyone else's rights? A woman is supposed to accept that; just because some guy identifies as a woman that he has the right to walk in to a locker room while she changing or showering or even just using the bathroom? That's BS! If it's fair to expect women to share the ladies room with transgender men then it's just as fair to expect transgender men to share a men's room with other men. And vice versa.
We're expected to accept that everyone entering the ladies room is female despite not having any proof of each person's sex. How do you discern who should and shouldn't be required to provide "proof" of their sex?
Next time you're standing at a urinal, I dare you to demand "proof" from the guy standing next to you. Let us know how that works after he's done pissing all over your leg.
A transgender woman isn't the same as a man. They live and work as women 24/7/365. They face the same challenges and discrimination that we do. They dress like us and identify themselves as women. If someone has all that behind them, what is the basis for your denial of who they are? Do you have proof to back up your claim that they're men?
Transgender women sharing the locked stall next to me doesn't bother me. What bothers me are the tough guys who think that they're now empowered to police women's restrooms. The only people causing problems are the perverts, and the guys trying to publicly prove their point by questioning/interrogating women entering restrooms.

Not all transgendered people are fully transitioned, and some will be quite obviously men.

I've seen some women that would pass as men.
