I like ATS better when we are discussing Aliens, Science, and top secret stuff. The politics is getting old.
Me too.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Thread crapping is a single user amassing posts to derail interest in a thread, it is a common tool of trolling.
I understand the technique, but personally I refuse to use it, as it detracts from the sites traffic and causes their storing more dead threads.

The term "antivaxxer" is a SLUR.
I'd say calling words 'slurs' is an attempt to throttle free speech. LOL
i have a troll following me around in all my threads doing this... they also use personal attacks and insults, and quickly edit them out when the person responds negativly to the attack. They are flooding out all of the importand info with senzless petty arguing over and over and over.

me too, even some of my own threads.. it is unfair the amount they sometimes get away with!

You've got a hard-headed opinion on the issues of the day. I would never ask you to stop for the reasons apparent in the OP.
That said, I know exactly what AlaskanDad is talking about. I am a much more avid reader of this site ... than a poster. I sometimes drop a thread when a slew of posts/replies from a single user ... or pair ... become too distracting.

... and a flag for the thread.
i agree, not limiting the op though with replies? That could be helpful in identifying delibsrate colaberations as well maybe?

One last post to be sure I have been clear on what I meant to suggest; the adding of a few lines of code to limit either the number of posts in a row or the number per page, could be quite beneficial to the user experience here at ATS.
Some auto mod features could be quite helpful!
what about putting back the block button for if we are feeling stalked or harrassed? Then we wouldnt have to see them repeat the same thing 500 times?

We understand what you're asking and we don't think it would work. People have political beliefs and it's okay if they want to post them.
Automatically throttling conversations isn't what ATS is about.
That doesn't mean I don't share your frustration. We've all had those moments of irritation, but it's ebb and flow. It's the same as being in the bar with friends and having to accept that conversations are organic and not steered by a chairperson.

I wish mods had the power to see what each edit says as well.

How many posts per page or in a row can a page handle, before it becomes disruptive?

Something that has happened to me: sometimes, in a thread with a heated discussion, several people post their opinion, but as those people live in the US they do it at a time I am sleeping, as I live in Europe, so when I come back to the thread I see several posts that I want/need to answer. A system like the one you propose could prevent me from answering all the posts I should answer.

Don't worry. I'll bring toilet paper and a bag to put the mess in. Wait, that's not what you mean. Sorry.

As a programmer, I don't like automated features, specially when reacting to human actions.
a reply to: ArMaP
It depends on the posts' content, and that's why it should be done by human moderators and not automatic.

Yet ATS and many site include profanity filters in their code, is that not a labor saving and site improvement automated feature to react to human actions?
With live mods there is always the chance of bias, this is not a claim that bias occurs here at ATS.
Another advantage to auto mod is it reacts as soon as the post comes in, not after a complaint is messaged to mods or.... when a mod comes across a problem.
Thanks for your reply!
