Yes, really. By the time Plato got hold of the story it was already a legend. There is no particular reason to suppose that Plato had any idea a volcano was involved. His story is actually pretty skimpy. He took the story and used it in his own fictional writing.

Atlantis was destroyed 3 times, so Plato could have been talking about the 3rd Atlantis.

What was before Atlantis?

I can dig we are all fallen angels, if by thought bubble you mean angel and earth form you mean fallen angel. We lost that ability when we "sinned" and kept coming back to our "earthforms" for pleasure and misdemeanor.

We go back when we die, but then are plunged back to earth.

So yes it would be like being stuck on a level in a computer game. You get to the next level when you remember your original nature, not just on an intellectual level but to know it through experiencing it. Perhaps that's what we call enlightenment if so the only thing of any importance whilst you are here is to become enlightened, everything else is just a distraction and will land you back to this level again.

yes, we have to come back to try and gain enlightenment or balance and only then can we choose if we want to stay or not.

Edgar Cayce says that Jesus Christ reached this enlightenment but decided to come back to earth to teach others and try and help them to the path.

Plato never actually saw or knew much about Atlantis, it was far before his time, even his ancestors.
Half of what he probably said was made up by his interpretation and imagination of what it would have appeared to look like ... Atlantis is pure myth, and pseudo archaeology. A city may have existed that was somewhat technologically advanced, by not as much as it has been twisted into what we see today.
