The other candidate is named Bernie Sanders, and Vermont’s Senator just forced a contested convention that FiveThirtyEight, The New York Times and others thought was impossible. In reality, Hillary Clinton is this year’s George McGovern and Bernie Sanders is the best general election candidate for Democrats. Bernie defeats Trump in an average of polls by 13 points, while Clinton only beats Trump by 5.7 points, and is known to lose even 50 point leads over opponents.

Remember, this 5.7 points lead over Trump exists before the FBI discloses its findings.

What do superdelegates loyal to Clinton think will happen to this lead after the FBI discloses its findings?
Bernie Sanders Must Campaign Harder Than Ever and Expect to Win

Since Sanders has forced a contested convention and he can only win by superdelegates' votes, I don't see why he should "campaign harder." I think he should spend all of his time trying to win superdelegates' votes.

Let's not forget a small detail:

It is legal for candidates to pay delegates at a brokered convention

That article says "brokered convention" and there's a quite a difference between a contested convention and a brokered convention. I wonder if there are any laws concerning paying delegates at a contested convention.

The Huffington Post article above makes it sound like the FBI will publicly disclose its findings. If that's true, an indictment will not be needed to stop Hillary Clinton, one way or another IMHO.

According to this if neither candidate has fifty percent of the national vote it is a contested convention. Usually resolved in a first vote.
If after a first vote there is no winner then it's a brokered convention.
It's an older article and trump was the focus but it outlines the process.
