Did I just step into something magnificently mundane?
It's been another brutal day in my neighborhood and I thought I would drop in to take a peak...and I see a big smile holding crab legs!
You just snapped me into that wonderful material world I forget I used to love!
When I was a kid, and visited my favorite aunt, we would go crabbing on the wharf in Monterey. We'd drive to the end and I'd watch them load the traps
and we'd wait in the cold, damp car for the traps to be hauled in...and then, oh my, what a feast!
For me it was crab with mayonnaise. And then a touch of it to go with the rice. This was our own private all you can eat buffet. They'd all be getting
drunk from coke and rum and the fights would be on, on the tiny black and white TV that sat on a TV tray, and they would just be getting on that edge
of being not quite so happy, but my belly would be full and that super supper would somehow filter out all of the other noise.
Sigh...thanks for that...I can taste it just by looking at you! I never knew what happy days those were. Well, yes I did know. I just didn't know how
rare they would become. I thought that life would always be like that.
But, as I look about and smile, I think I can adapt to these new surroundings.
And now, before I am noticed, I will make my escape, lest this one last two hours also!
Buy guys...you all know I love you...
