He is on a couple albums where he only plays drums that are not that bad. But no signing! No BS cover songs. No solo stuff. I bet the guys from South Park feel the same! They write an original musical based on Les Mis (love the "Blame Canada" song) but Phil #!$@ Collins gets the Grammy? Ppphhhhtt, right.

The 80s is not making a comeback as it never went away.

Funny too how people remember the cheesy stuff, and Phil Collins, from the 80s - what about groups such as Public Enemy, Kraftwerk etc who have influenced so many and came out of the 80s, and earlier?

I know some will sneer at my references, as they do with Phil Collins, but that is just musical elitism. Each to their own.

Remember a time when there was no internet, no cellphones, and you actually had to spend time with people to have a social life. I'm glad I got to experience it before the world changed.

Yep, I also remember a time when people "listened" to music instead of using it as a way to protect/cut themselves off from others.

Thank you!!! I have been looking for other people who also enjoy this genre, and I find it here on ATS no less.

There are some great upcoming artists, mega drive, Trevor something (yeah that's his title) & Daniel deluxe have some pretty awesome stuff IMO

Well as a child of 86 I'm all for the music as it's been at every party I've been to since i was born, just not the old clothes style, flammable shell suits etc lol.

I've listened to a bunch of Mega Drive, it reminds of that hardcore dystopian style synth like Lost Years.

I am a metal head/punk rock fan but I am loving the 80's retro wave.

It makes for some awesome driving music (I am a gear head too).

I have been listening to Timecop1983, Highway Superstar, Lazerhawk, Mitch Murder to name a few.

Also, Dance with the Dead, although I don't know if they are classified as retro wave.

If your a gearhead this is right up your alley. I have an MP3 in my car and sometimes it feels dangerous to jet to this stuff.

This thread made me think of vapor wave - and that's been going on for a while for there to be an 80s comeback.

I posted a thread a few months ago with "The Most Satisfying Video In The World" and this was the song playing in the background. So chill.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am digging them all, especially the Electric Youth song.
