How exactly are we catering to trans people again because I personally haven't done a damn thing differently in the last month than I've done in the last 38 years of my life in the way of catering to anyone. I simply don't care what other people do as long as they're not harming anyone. If somebody born with a penis feels more comfortable as a female, whether or not that person retains her external genitalia, it's no skin off my back to go along with what makes her feel comfortable.

Holy s#, I just used the pronoun "her" to refer to a hypothetical person born with a hypothetical penis who may or may not still have said penis (it's like Schrödinger's penis!) and it didn't hurt me one little bit. How is that catering to a person anymore than calling a person named Robert by the name "Bob" (or hell, "Tom") if that's what they prefer? I once knew a burnout who wore skin tight white jeans and Metallica t-shirts every single day and wanted to be called "Viper Man."

When I got into a public restroom, I do what I went in there to do and I don't concern myself with crap like birth certificates or other people's genitals (except the couple times I was in a stall with a female but that's a whole different story). As far as I can tell, I haven't done any catering at all.

What catering have you done?

Now, you're right. Injecting a giant loophole into American jurisprudence that simply allows any man to utter the sentence, "I feel like a woman," and then walk into any women's locker room in the world so that transpeople do not feel put upon is not catering or up-ending society for anyone.

if you are running a public accommodation, like a business, you are not allowed to discriminate against a group by refusing services to that group, which you provide to everyone else.

You can get sued, for refusal to cater to them.

Can someone tell me why this whole transgendered thing is such a big issue? When other things are going on in the world? That are far more important. I'm just not understanding the fuss at all.or is this a case of first world problems being treated as major life or death issues

The current "bathroom" issue probably started here. Transgender teens parents fought back through the media.

Then there were other occurrences where some "holier-than-thou" parent outed a trans student. That student and parents fought back through the courts and media. Self-righteous parents descended on the school board demanding their precious little darlings weren't being protected from the horrors of a trans student in their school.

Why yes, if you run a catering business and you refuse to do business with one group while doing the same business for everyone else, you will get sued for discrimination. Try refusing service to blacks because they're black, and see if you don't get sued.

It's like conservatives are stuck on the plot of some campy 80's movie.

What laws were on the books this time last year that prevented men from entering women's locker rooms that have been circumvented by this "giant loophole" you speak of? I'm pretty sure that loopholes require laws to exist in the first place. How would these laws even be enforced?

Are we going to have frantic calls to 911 about suspected interlopers?
