Yeah okay. You don't have any hatred towards anyone - sure, that's believable.

They also consider skinhead groups, neo-nazi organizations and the KKK hate groups. They're just crazy!

And people who wear certain clothing, are "Anti Government" (their words), listen to certain shows, watch certain media.

Yeah....."Law Center"

lol, what a complete joke. They aren't interested in Law, they're interested in being ACTIVISTS

What's wrong with being an activist? LOL Shouldn't we all want to be activists for the better of our communites. or should we just sit on our couches and watch Duck Dummies or Kardashians on TV?

Not when the name of your organization involves the words "LAW CENTER" and your entire organization is built on Constitutional Law and "EQUAL RIGHTS"

I think there are a few gun rights and pro-life activists on this very site. But, of course, those are the "good" kind of activists.

Sorry for drifting thread...

Gender dysphoria is clearly a mental illness and is in fact defined as such by the American Psychiatric Association in the DSM-5 if certain criteria are met. I am not sure why we are supposed to cater to these people.

Is that your professional opinion as a conservative?

How exactly are we catering to trans people again because I personally haven't done a damn thing differently in the last month than I've done in the last 38 years of my life in the way of catering to anyone. I simply don't care what other people do as long as they're not harming anyone. If somebody born with a penis feels more comfortable as a female, whether or not that person retains her external genitalia, it's no skin off my back to go along with what makes her feel comfortable.

Holy s#, I just used the pronoun "her" to refer to a hypothetical person born with a hypothetical penis who may or may not still have said penis (it's like Schrödinger's penis!) and it didn't hurt me one little bit. How is that catering to a person anymore than calling a person named Robert by the name "Bob" (or hell, "Tom") if that's what they prefer? I once knew a burnout who wore skin tight white jeans and Metallica t-shirts every single day and wanted to be called "Viper Man."

When I got into a public restroom, I do what I went in there to do and I don't concern myself with crap like birth certificates or other people's genitals (except the couple times I was in a stall with a female but that's a whole different story). As far as I can tell, I haven't done any catering at all.

What catering have you done?

And the ACP aren't interested in being pediatricians. They're interested in being activists for anti-LGBT legislation. So where's your disdain for them?

Now, you're right. Injecting a giant loophole into American jurisprudence that simply allows any man to utter the sentence, "I feel like a woman," and then walk into any women's locker room in the world so that transpeople do not feel put upon is not catering or up-ending society for anyone.

SPLC - - American College of Pediatricians

Along with NARTH, a deceptively named pediatricians’ group is a second primary source used vilify gay people.

The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) is not the only game in town when it comes to providing “scientific” support for anti-gay groups. The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) has done as much to defame gays and lesbians, all in the name of protecting children. A professional organization for socially conservative pediatricians and healthcare professionals, the group has taken a number of hard-line positions when it comes to LGBT rights, advocating for a prohibition against adoption rights for same-sex couples and also offering high praise for reparative therapy.

oh you better believe SPLC is a hate group. In fact, anyone that does not accept unconditional child abuse by trying to force a mental illness upon confused children is considered a hate group or bigot. Because children need to be groomed for this niche in the porn industry now where many are probably ending up. After an audition with the old man that will be their director of course.

Seems you know a lot about this subject. Do you have any data that supports your claim about children who have "had this mental illness forced upon them winding up in the porn industry?"

Or is it just...y'know..."personal research" that leads you to make the assumption?

if you are running a public accommodation, like a business, you are not allowed to discriminate against a group by refusing services to that group, which you provide to everyone else.

You can get sued, for refusal to cater to them.

Can someone tell me why this whole transgendered thing is such a big issue? When other things are going on in the world? That are far more important. I'm just not understanding the fuss at all.or is this a case of first world problems being treated as major life or death issues

The current "bathroom" issue probably started here. Transgender teens parents fought back through the media.

Then there were other occurrences where some "holier-than-thou" parent outed a trans student. That student and parents fought back through the courts and media. Self-righteous parents descended on the school board demanding their precious little darlings weren't being protected from the horrors of a trans student in their school.

Paranoia set in - - the Fundies went to work - - doing their Fundie thing.

“The first few years were like a utopia,” Kelly said. “Everyone on the staff [at Orono’s Asa Adams School] was very supportive. The school counselor spent a lot of time doing lots of research.”

That atmosphere changed abruptly in the fall of 2007 when the twins were in the fifth grade. That was the year Wyatt made the transition to to Nicole. She legally changed her name, let her hair grow and began wearing girl’s clothes to school. She also began using the girls bathroom at Asa Adams with, what her parents said, was the support of school administrators and staff.

Shortly thereafter, a male student and his grandfather objected to Nicole’s use of the bathroom. “This kid came into the bathroom [in October 2007] and said, ‘My grandfather says we don’t have to have any faggots in our school” Wayne recalled. “What do you do with that? It was quite a change.”

On Oct. 9, 2007, then-Superintendent Kelly Clenchy decided Nicole should use a staff bathroom rather than the girls bathroom, according to the lawsuit Wayne and Nicole have filed in Penobscot County Superior Court against Clenchy and the department.

Why yes, if you run a catering business and you refuse to do business with one group while doing the same business for everyone else, you will get sued for discrimination. Try refusing service to blacks because they're black, and see if you don't get sued.

I find it amusing how as this fake debate rages on, the potential society upending threat has been winnowed down to men walking into women's locker rooms.

It's like conservatives are stuck on the plot of some campy 80's movie.

What laws were on the books this time last year that prevented men from entering women's locker rooms that have been circumvented by this "giant loophole" you speak of? I'm pretty sure that loopholes require laws to exist in the first place. How would these laws even be enforced?

Are we going to have frantic calls to 911 about suspected interlopers?
