The article read to me like pure speculation. Carson threw out 5 random names, I doubt that's Trumps actual list. If that article is like the one I read on Yahoo it doesn't even say it's Trumps list, it says it's Carsons speculation on Trumps list.

That makes sense. That list of names doesn't sound like Trump's choices to me either. It sounds like a list to get people talking and thinking. Sarah Palin?? I like her, but in a general election she would kill him. Lyin' Ted? No way not ever! John Kasich? He probably has the credentials, but talk about a snooze fest! Little Marco? lol! Chris Christi? maybe.

Rubio said no, Christie is the head of the transition team which may indicate he's got the track for Chief of Staff, Kasich is a nonstarter (might as well pick Jeb!), Palin has some serious baggage, and while I think Cruz would have been a smart pick, I think there might be too much animosity between the Trumpists and the Cruzers for it to work even thought they are natural complementing constituencies.

I was thinking Newt would be in this mix, but then again, Carson has a history of saying things and then having to walk them back too.

From your lips to God's ears, because if Trump picks any of those buffoons, it's all over for him.

I have to throw out one name I recently saw, that wasn't on the list of 5. Condoleezza Rice. She's smart, sharp, strong, and knows her way around the White House. Plus, she doesn't have the political baggage Palin has.

well jeez, if we need a VP I strongly suggest Joni Ernst. She has real experience commanding forces during the Iraqi freedom operation, serves on the Senate armed services committee and has reached many milestones for a woman representative and military service. She shares many Libertarian views as well and her ideology on states rights is spot on, in many respects mirrors Trumps. Staunch 2nd amendment supporter as well.

Her and Trump could play a hell of a 'Good Cop Bad Cop' thing in the international arena on foreign policy. Sometimes it takes the gentleness and charm of a woman to get rival leaders to let their guard down so we can gain an advantage. She is not as well known to the public outside Iowa, which helps in some regard.

that alleged list to e is rather laughable. The only one I would even imagine actually making the senior staff (none of which would be VP) is Chris because they seem like they get along well as friends. The rest, promise they wont see staff. Its going to be people he vets like a resume of productivity I think.

I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell anyone of them will get the call.
I hope not anyway. Palin would be the best choice as she has experience running a huge state and a lot of people do like her.

Running a state that's physically large is probably far less demanding that running a real state, like a California or a Texas, or literally any of the other states in the union.

Jokes about Alaska aside, Palin's only barely less toxic than Cruz.

Condoleezza Rice.

No way man! She had her chance. I respect her ability to do her job, but Ernst served overseas and knows the realities of what we do during battles. Rice has only served from behind a desk, and policy reflects that. Its time to get real people from the armed forces back into office.

None of the names on the list do anything for me. I imagine it would be Christie out of that group. Hopefully he picks someone better.

Gosh, I love the internet.

Who is the reporter that captured this hit piece?

The Breitbart story says that Ben rattled off these names to the reporter, who was riding along in the car at some time in the recent past. It could have been 2 weeks ago. Also, as others have pointed out, these names are just 5 of many. They may not be on that "short list" that Donald Trump is keeping close to his chest.

But I love the way Trump knows how to play the media. Some of them are O.K., but most are sensationalist. CNN and MSNBC are the worst. Carson should bait those two.. give them major egg on their face.

Carson is pulling legs.

Newt will be asked or at least on the list, if one ever comes out.

Hey, Palin for Ambassador to russia!

Kasich , Cruz and Rubio have all said there's not a chance in hell they would run with lying Donald. Palin and Christie are both buffoons so I hope he chooses Palin. She's at least good for a laugh and nobody takes her seriously anymore.

The fact Palin is on the list shows that it's not legit.

Lol, Trump only picks winners and that is a list of losers.

Newt even lost his bid so he is out.

It has to be someone who matches Trump's theme, winning again.

Maybe he offers House Speaker Ryan a deal of a lifetime, a 4 year trip as VP and Trump bows out leaving him the leading nominee after four years of spotlighting with the Donald instead of taking heat from being in the ever unpopular Congress. The art of making a deal in action.

You're right. Trump likes winners, but his definition of 'loser' may not be so expansive that it eliminates people like Carson or Kasich or Gingrich.

The VP does not have to be anyone from the political arena, so Trump could pick someone from the business world or the military ranks.

I heard rumors that Rand Paul and Jeff Sessions were on his short list. Just rumors though.

Only one House Speaker has ever became President, Folk.
Ryan may have aspirations and his current seat has a bad track record of getting there. Instead of being third in line to the Presidency he could move up to second in line, which is a great job to prepare a future run.
Trump also wants to unite the GOP Party, no better way since Ryan is the leader.

Or he could pick someone that voters have already rejected....not likely.
Another billionaire businessman.....not likely.
There are plenty of retired Admirals and Generals but Obama basically purged all of them from the military and made sure they had ruinous scandals follow them into their retirements. It's what tyrannical socialists do to jealously guard their legacies. That field is not too good for Trump to pick from.

Maybe a movie star who hasn't gorged at the trough of communism.....good luck finding one of those.

Most likely the pick will be a politician to offset his perceived lack of expertise in the field of professional bull#ting.

So rhe art of the deal involves getting a guy who is doing a #ty job at his job into a new job out of the public eye to make him look like he isn't crap at his job? All so he has a shot at now becoming at becoming president?
