The revelation comes from the death bed confession of former CIA agent Donald Rickard , Rickard was working undercover as a diplomat in South Africa at the time.

The bombshell disclosure led yesterday to a demand for the CIA to come clean about putting behind bars a figure who became one of the world’s most revered statesmen.
A veteran political associate of Mandela called it a “shameful act of betrayal” that “hindered the struggle against apartheid”.

An article by James Sanders, who said he was asked by Irvin to investigate the issue, said the director travelled to the US earlier this year and interviewed Rickard. Rickard explained how Mandela was arrested as he travelled between Durban and Johannesburg but did not explain how he had learnt where he would be. "I found out when he was coming down and how he was coming... that's where I was involved and that's where Mandela was caught," Rickard was quoted as saying. He added that Mandela was "completely under the control of the Soviet Union".

It's thought that the revelation will renew calls for the CIA to release its files on Nelson Mandela's arrest and their involvement in it.

Not suprising. This nation was founded by people who rejected the rightful Crown. The Crown was under no obligation to provide representation to heathens in order to tax them.

This nation was founded by criminals.

Britain and the USA were fighting commies all over the globe at that time. Mandela was the enemy. The west backed SA until commies went away. Just like we Brits backed Rhodesia with weapons behind the scenes whatever the media put out about UDI right up until 1979.
