A person standing in line at a soup kitchen doesn't get to demand that they be provided with their own rooftop service fully stocked with a private waiter, violinist, and champagne on ice.

You either accept the way the free handout works or f*** off and go make your own soup.

Comparing a professional medical establishment to a person standing in line for soup... fascinating.

So the government makes them accept all patients, insured or not. Makes them accept Medicaid/medicare cards as insurance (which we fund) and then says...."Hey! All those things we already force you to do, we are gonna add some more to it or stop paying you when you accept the insurance we force you to accept"

To be honest, I'm kind of on the fence with that set up.

On one hand hospitals should be able to choose whether or not they accept medicaid/medicare... but on the other hand, what would happen if 90% of the hospitals across the country decided not to ??

So on one hand, it's authoritative.

But on the other hand, it's authoritative for the greater good (with regards to making sure that all citizens have easy access to medical care wherever they're located in the country).

Reason #1037 why I would never want to be the ruler/decision maker of my own kingdom.

Too many damn pros and cons to weigh out with every decision.

What would you say if your mortgage company sent you a letter saying that you had to bake them cookies every week now along with your payment.?They funded your house.

Then I guess I'd have to run out and buy more cookie sheets.

When you've signed your John Hancock on the dotted line accepting somebody else's financing, they own you.

Blackmail or not, they own you.

Actually no, you take them to court with the signed contract you agreed to that made no mentioned of cookies.

I'd love to know if you would have felt the same way about this if Bush tried it, or if Trump would try something like it.

You have just come across one of the main reasons conservatives say government should stop meddling, and get out of our likes.

I'm not saying they shouldn't accept them. Obama forcing their compliance while stacking all the rules against them is crazy.

This all resembles communism far too closely. They have effectively made public hospital employees government employees.

Yeah well, when it comes to things like essential public services (fire, police, paramedics, hospitals, etc) it's a little tough to not have the government overseeing certain things to make sure that all citizens have equal access to those essential services.

It's kinda what governments are supposed to do and why they were established in the first place.

I agree to a degree. Local government should be involved to better reflect the values and concerns of its citicens. Federal government shouldn't create sweeping agendas.

Yeah, it's pretty damn tough to try to keep a proper balance with things, no doubt about it.

Why anyone would want such a crappy thankless job that only pays $250,000 a year is beyond me.

Didn't read the last two pages but...

Maybe I have an identity problem if my breast are too small...I have to pay for it...no maybe you should.

I am getting old and don't feel comfortable with aging. a face lift would help me identify as young again...I have to pay for it...but wait...maybe you can pay for it.

I am short...would feel better about myself if I were taller

Maybe obese and need to feel normal with a lap band...someone else should pay for it.

It goes on.

It is an attempt to break the insurance companies.

This is the man who believed a marriage was between a man and woman when he took office.

Politicians make me sick and Obama wants to break this country.

Do you think he would have been elected at the time if he said otherwise?

Of course not...that is why they all lie. But he has changed more than any politician I have seen in my 70 years.

You can't make change if you don't have the power.

Which means - - you first have to get elected.

I'm 70 and I don't agree. I do think there's been a lot of "social" changes that required change. I appreciate he recognized it was time for those changes.

So, in the case where the feds force new rules down the throats of medical community-this is what happens
-doctors make all appts squeezed into a day where patients wait for hours after traveling, sometimes w/infants to their drs offices
-drs then see patients for 5 min or less w/no discussion shoved out the door w/big pharma scripts which tax payers pay for
-hospital emergency rooms fill up with everyone together sharing germs and wait hours before seeing an overworked/zero bedside manner ass dr who orders many xrays, mris etc to cover his ass and paid by you the taxpayer-
who then releases patient w/scrips and said patient returns in worse condition in two days where they lay on a gurney ignored for hours until they practically expire.......
so...... citizens dying...lotsa taxpayer money spent w/o a good outcome; burned out medical professionals feel like failures and are burned out but they gotta keep it going to pay their student tuition....
so....who's winning here?

I'm still trying to figure out how the federal government contributes to my life in any way.

The boys/girls in uniform are welcome to my tax money, all the rest of it can take a damn hike.

I have often wondered that myself.

They do nothing, but soak up all the joy in life and enrich the elite.

The Feds are garbage and it is time to take out the trash.

There's no need for chemicals when there's brainwashing. Make it cool and the kids will follow.
You don't need to spend any money, just ask me. It's because gender is just another dialectic to manipulate, it's because when you start supporting radical politics traditional minded folks will react in reactionary ways, and voila: you've got yourself another theatre of war in the political puppet show. Furthermore, it doesn't hurt if the movement keeps digging away at the structure of the nuclear family.

Define identity as reality and people will think that identity is reality. Watch the insanity unfold as this is taken to it's logical extreme with even "otherkin" and people in love with "waifus" demanding political representation.

I don't agree that gender is psychological, this is just modern relativism. For most people gender is connected to sex, it doesn't matter if there's exceptions to this rule. I'm sure there's other examples of concepts where there's exceptions to a things nature, yet where it doesn't completely invalidate the concept as a whole. Are we really this dull of mind? Aberrations need to be viewed as such or we might as well throw the DSM-IV in the trash can. Forget disease, sickness and mental illness, these are just different modes of expression.

And don't tell me "maskers" aren't mentally ill.. hell, modern liberals are mentally ill for a variety of reasons. As are society and mankind as a whole.

Yeah, abortions are evil. But right now, they're legal.
But gender change? Who is that hurting?

Gender transition is cosmetic surgery.

There is nothing life threatening about this, therefore it should not be covered by insurance.

I guess Obama admin is bigoted against fat people, since lyposuction is NOT COVERED UNDER obama Care.

Disgusting.

When do the thought police arrive?

That procedure is as elective as any cosmetic surgery. How many insurances cover those ? A lot of hospitals DO NOT DO elective surgeries at all. Too many risks involved.

Just another implementation by our wonderful president (no, I will not capitalize it in this case)via force. I do not know if this country can survive until the next President (yes , I will capitalize now)

They need to find a specialist for those procedures. And not by Dictator Obama decree

True, and any hospital not already performing these operations by the specialized surgeons won't be mandated to do them because they don't have the specialized surgeons, staff, equipment, infrastructure, to actually do them.
