Retro Past

I'm walking down this winding road . .to where you once resided,
it was here, some time ago, our futures were decided.
"Good luck" we wished, "So long my friend", away we went unguided.

It was our, "fork in the road", a time to say goodbye,
Til this day, I still can't say, I know the reason why.

I went left and you went right, alone as each could be,
To live our lives as best we thought . . .independently.

I'm walking down this winding road . .to where you once resided,
I ask in jest . .can we change the rest, of deeds that were misguided.

I WANT A DO-OVER ! I WANT TO TRY AGAIN . . .to be "one" . .with you.

I have come back here . . . to re-live the past . . atone.
I have come back here . . . evidently . . alone.

Leaves are blowing round me, it's hard for me to see.

I'm walking down this winding road . . to where the fork did start,
I'm coming back to change the past . . and heal my love-lost heart.

From two to one the paths do cross, and now I'm back in time,
Before the split, before the quit, when we were both just fine.
