More on Dr Berger.

The leading association that advocates for reparative therapy is the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH). Dr. Joseph Berger, a psychiatrist who has been a member of NARTH’s “Scientific Advisory Committee,” presented comments to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights regarding Bill C-279.

It amazes me that anyone takes Dr. Berger seriously anymore after his 2006 aspersion that trans youth should be bullied:

“I suggest, indeed, letting children who wish to go to school in clothes of the opposite sex – but not counseling other children to not tease them or hurt their feelings.

“On the contrary, don’t interfere, and let the other children ridicule the child who has lost that clear boundary between play-acting at home and the reality needs of the outside world. Maybe, in this way, the child will re-establish that necessary boundary.”

Republicans/conservatives remind me of my mother in law. The sh*t they complain about is always the small intolerant crap.

Oh no, the transgendered are using the bathroom. They're coming to rape you.

When the whole world comes together in peace, they'll be cowering in their bunker, clutching their rifles saying it's Armageddon.

All smoke and mirrors...look over HERE...a SQUIRREL!!! And just where is it gonna pee?

The United States has PURPOSELY been dropped to second world status. We have crippling unemployment rates; the dollar is in big trouble; our government keeps printing money; drug use is rampant; suicides (due to hopelessness of economic future) are skyrocketing. We have a crazy man w/nukes in North Korea; and crazy men in Iran who soon will have nukes (courtesy of the abysmal Iran Nuke (not a) Deal. And the bread and circuses for the masses, is way bathroom to use?

There have been transgendered (old time cross dressers too) forever. This is a non-issue. They used the bathroom they looked like they should use. Period. If this IS NOT THE CASE, where are the hundreds of thousands of arrest history (over decades) of those using "the wrong" bathroom

There isn't any. Because it's NOT a widespread problem; or even a minutae problem. Of the tens of millions of public restrooms across the United States, how many have had an arrest occur for anything other than assault, terroristic threats, etc? Very few.

We are so played as a people. This is a media (apropos) "s#it storm" to propel a non issue Obama deflection AWAY from the dismal last seven years.

Wake up...

I challenge you to find ONE case where a true transgender accosting anyone in a restroom.

I'm trying to find a post where anyone said that would happen. From what I have seen the concern is about standard sexual predators using the lowered security to stalk, voyeur, take pics, etc. Plus discomfort from the other people in the restroom if the 'odd man out' is obviously displaying the opposite genitalia of the room they are using.

My son is a million times safer with a woman-to-man transgender in a bathroom than he is with a priest in a Catholic church.

Chew on that.

If you really want to protect children from perverts, shut down churches.

For sure.

Oh look, NARTH completely erased the bullying comments from their website. Yep, Dr. Berger is so credible.

By allowing a man to go into a women's restroom with the backing of government force, a layer of security has been removed.

Previously, a correct gender person inside the restroom could have told an opposite gender person to get out. They could have called security to escort the opposite gender person out.

Previously, A husband/father waiting outside the lady's room for his wife or daughter to come out could stop an obvious male from entering the lady's room.

Now, they cannot take pre-emptive action. The opposite gender person has the law on their side, in places where liberal politicians want to show how 'compassionate' they are.

THAT IS INSANE.

You ALWAYS have the right to protect yourself and your family. The law is ALWAYS on your side for that, in all 50 states. If I'm using the restroom and see someone peeking in on me in a pervy way, they're getting a punch to the throat- male/female/lesbian/trans IDGAF. If one of my children is in a restroom and a stranger lays a finger on them, they're getting the beatdown of a lifetime and then LE can come scrape them off the floor- male/female/lesbian/gay/trans IDGAF. If someone is filming me while I'm using the bathroom, I'm taking their phone/camera as evidence AND punching them in the throat- male/female/lesbian/trans IDGAF.

Anti-discrimination laws DO NOT require that you sit back and become a helpless victim to pervy behavior.

As long as someone enters the restroom, does their business, washes their hands and leaves...no harm, no foul. You don't have to make out with them, or even like them, you can even believe it's abnormal or sinful...but live and let live.

It does amaze me how some can spew all kinds of insults (even though they're mostly oblivious to what they're saying), then get all pissy if you call them on it.

And there you have it. THAT is what has been happening FOR DECADES. With out the heavy fist of the United States government THREATENING to remove public funding from school districts or to sue private businesses out of business.

This IS and has been a NON ISSUE. It's a Wag the Dog to deflect a populace AWAY from issues that affect EVERY American (like jobs). As I stated above, "cross dressers" have been living (out ward appearance wise) in the open and have used the rest rooms appropriate for their appearance. There have been no daily reports of arrests. If this was such a "problem"'wouldn't that be so? Would not THOUSANDS of arrests be made weekly? Yet over DECADES there are only statistics on assaults, robberies, in rest rooms NOT unlawful use.

I'll say it again. We are being played. The sheeple are being distracted and fooled. Our fiat money is in big trouble, which affects EVERYONE, yet THIS is the top priority of the Obama administration? Ask WHY???

Am I wrong that Civil Rights/Equal Treatment is definitely a part of the presidents responsibility?

Also, the Separation of Church and State. It is the "Fundies" who continue to fight against equal rights of those they deem "not worthy".

I know it's a conspiracy site, but not everything is a conspiracy.

There have been schools recently in the news who have forced trans kids to go the restroom of their birth sex (usually after getting complaints from transphobic parents). That's why the letter has gone out.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again:
What we really should be worried about is the TRANS Pacific Partnership that's being passed right under our noses without even knowing exactly what it entails. Guaranteed to chip away at our economy and provide benefits to countries who profit off sex trafficking and slave labor.

But hey, lets get everyone whipped up over the OTHER trans! Ya know, the one that's not hurting anyone but sure to offend conservative Christians!

Have to say this

I recently started going to the YMCA to swim. Large women's locker room. Weird at first. So many naked bodies. Such variation. Never realized before how different bodies can be. Been going a few weeks now. Now they're just bodies. Even if lockers became co-Ed, after the initial shock, it just wears off. You go about your business.

We must be nice, tolerant and respect or friends the fringe republican religious evangelicals, dehumanizing and de-legitimizing other people is how they make themselves feel important. Because if everyone is equal in the eyes of god and the law what makes them such special snowflakes?
Besides.. If we cant get a reactionary emotional response out of them how are the preachers and politicians gonna control them?
