I suppose it could have been, except for the fact that it was moving much too slowly.

Personally, I've never seen a satellite move south to north. But it could have been, I suppose. Since I don't know what it was, I obviously can't discount the possibility.

Directly south-north would be unusual. Southwestish-northeastish, not so unusual.
Guesstimate on the horizon to horizon transit time?

No idea really. As slow as it was moving, I'd guess, and that's all it is, thirty to forty minutes? Since I lost track of it, I'm probably well off the mark...

Close enough to rule some things out.
Any satellite low enough to be clearly naked eye visible would make the traverse in 6-7 minutes. So no, not a satellite.

Unless your guess is way off, slow for any powered aircraft.

High altitude weather balloon shining off the sunet/sunrise? Might account for the shifting colour from white to yellow?

Ive never seen one myself, but you never know

This should be a sticky thread or a new one started by one of the mods.
Think about it. A active thread where sighting could be posted for everyone
to go out and look for it.You have a great idea Seagull.

Have an idea.

Anybody tracking the X37-B, mission 4? Perchance you caught a glimpse of that!

What are the chances of it being a drone?

I caught sight of something not too long ago, in fact it was less than a month ago. At first thought it was a cluster of stars or planets, then maybe even a UFO. Disappeared and flew off after about 5 minutes.

As I understand, drones are very popular these days.

That never even occurred to me.

I'll have to check that out later when I have more time, maybe this evening. Thanks.

Nope, at least none around where it was. Off to the west, but no where near what ever this was/is.

In my wandering around the internet today, or yesterday rather, I ran across mention of sprites and elves, atmospheric phenomena.

Haven't read everything about them, obviously, but are they visible long term from the ground at all? I didn't run across any mention about that one way or another...

Anyone know anything about that?

No fish for you. Poached or otherwise. Though that does sound good.
