My white family got the land BUT we didn't get a mule.

Sounds like an early form of affirmative action.

I want my mule 'reparations' from the black community, as this event has damaged my genetic-psyche.

I see how well you read. Black families were supposed to get 40 acres and a mule, mostly they didn't and ended up congregated with other black families waiting for their land and mules out in the middle of nowhere.

White families actually got 160 acres and a deed if they could stick it out for 5 years, a lot couldn't and the land stayed in the hands of the government.

That seem equal to you?

The flag itself took on many symbols yes, however the very design of the flag is christian in nature. You must be from the north.

So; if I understand your correctly, most black families stood around waiting for 'some-one' to save them while the white families battled the elements and the land for five long years in the hope of surviving long enough to give their children a future?

In answer to your question; Five years of hard-labor VS free handouts? Indeed- I agree with you; This does not seem equal to me at all.

If it was a group of mixed race cadets holding fists at shoulder height, would they all be 'fighting the power'? It's freaking West Point. They ARE the power.

Actually, the raised fist goes back at least a century in modern usage and is likely ancient. In the most general terms, it is a symbol of solidarity though in most uses, it has additional related connotations such as solidarity against oppression or "fight[ing] the power."

It's been used by socialists, labor organizations, white supremacists, black nationalists, environmentalists, tons of revolutionaries and various other radical and not-so-radical political movements to numerous to name.

Sometimes it's even thrown up (and maybe pumped a bit) in celebration of a hard fought victory.

But you know, black people doing it is bad because conservative political correctness.

Agreed with them, or disagree with them. Doesn't, in the end, really matter.

These are, in all likelihood, fine young people who will go on to be fine soldiers. More importantly, I find my self thinking, fine young soldiers with a conscience, and a brain to go with it.

I don't want unthinking, conscienceless robots in my nations military, y'know?

I don't much like this voluntary racial segregation that's going on...in fact I'll be so bold as to say I hate it.

But in many, maybe most, cases it indicates that someone(s) is actually looking at the world around them, and they don't like what they see.

That's how I see it. My not so humble opinion, if you will.

Eh hem......yea and I bet the language used back then does not account for the soft language used today. Back then even you would be calling them colored.....again taken out of context from a past ideology that no one currently alive had any experience in. You might as well be trying to examine my emotional state through type and even then you could be way off.

Thing is, it doesn't get rid of the fact that the civil war like all others the USA has fought was a picked fight by the fed. And for women of color to display a salute often used by militant black groups and not expect a few raised eyebrows. I mean if that's socially acceptable then a confederate flag is equally acceptable.

The double standard is what I'm getting at, and while I can care less about any of this, the principal remains the same.
Me being a black man, I am not about to identify as African American, that's just stupid ignorant labeling to keep us all separated. I think at this point I'm American and that's all that should be used to describe me unless its law enforcement and they need a more detailed description of a suspect.

Otherwise all this thread really does is keep prejudice alive as white anger in this case is valid for concern often as it is. Blacks can do it but whites can't? Come on...this isn't 1865, or 1965. People are actually that shallow to buy into this horse sh*t.

It's easy, follow along.
It is against the law they are bound by for cadets to make political expression.
They are giving the BLM salute, a violent radical left wing political movement funded by commies.

Court martial is the only remedy.
