Toys in the Attic

I think I will put up 2 tonight. I have been afraid to ut up more. Not because of reaction, just becausae I don't want anyone to 'borrow it' , so keep in mind this is copywrited. But I still think I should write and share or, for the moment it goes nowhere.


Toys in the Attic

I see it all in you,
the big dream.
The never-never land.
The tender attic in my mind,
the one room dusty with disuse,
littered with preserved treasures,
accumulations of bits and pieces
of things that can make me cry-
and things that can make me laugh
until I can't breathe anymore.

Some of the things are objects,
Some people, some feelings.
both possessesed and imagined.
There are roller coasters ridden,
books read.
forgotten infatuations.
Untouchable, ghostly dreams yet to be
are mixed in with memories.

There are fairy lands
and Paladins and Peter Pan,
magic spells and magic scrolls,
magic beasts and magic elves.

More Practically-
there are plays unacted.
poems unrhymed,
bright, starry skies ungazed.
The yet to come that I await to be.

There are people-
really just shadowy figures.
Those forgotten,
those awaiting me.

Somewhere, among castles and scripts,
with messy hair,
still groggy with sleep.
is a boy who-
has a tender attic.
cluttered like mine.
Where I wait, in stasis,
in a corner-
under baseball cards
and Prince Charming's cape,
Waiting for someone
to pinch me awake.

Yawning and stretching,
I come slowly aware,
To realize it was you
who was there.
Just take my hamd
so we can leave this gloomy room.
And take a dream with us,
or possibly two.
