The action I am referring to is the Cuban Missile Crisis. Had that crisis not been averted by JFK not listening to his ruthless military advisers we would have had a full blown nuclear war.

You use the analogy of the car dealer. I will ask you would you do business with the same dealer if you knew he ruthlessly gave you a bad deal. Or would you do business again with the dealer who gave you a fair price and still made himself a modest profit ?

”There is a litany of issues both candidates have back-tracked and flip-flopped on, that there is absolutely no certain way to discern what their platform truly is.”--GodEmperor

Which is exactly why neither candidate is appropriate in this case!

My fault, I did not press for any sources.

President John Kennedy (1917-63) notified Americans about the presence of the missiles, explained his decision to enact a naval blockade around Cuba and made it clear the U.S. was prepared to use military force if necessary to neutralize this perceived threat to national security. Following this news, many people feared the world was on the brink of nuclear war. However, disaster was avoided when the U.S. agreed to Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev’s (1894-1971) offer to remove the Cuban missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba. Kennedy also secretly agreed to remove U.S. missiles from Turkey

www.history.com...

It seems he was prepared to instigate world war, so he avoided the very nuclear war he was willing to start.

Maybe it was just something... oh no, he actually instigated the whole dilemma.

After the failed U.S. attempt to overthrow the Castro regime in Cuba with the Bay of Pigs invasion,

history.state.gov...

With that settled, it isn't about what qualities YOU want in a great leader; it is about the qualities that MAKE a great leader. Sometimes you have to remove the connotations of a word to truly understand its meaning.

Here is a line of fact, that reinforces my argument over the qualities of a leader and why they are important to be a successful leader.

Shortly after his inauguration, in February 1961, President Kennedy authorized the invasion plan. But he was determined to disguise U.S. support. The landing point at the Bay of Pigs was part of the deception.

If neither candidate is appropriate, why are they the ones left standing?

Just something to ponder, you may not like the qualities that make a good leader, but those are the qualities that make a leader.

No these are only the qualities that you believe make a good leader. You aren't an authority on political leadership therefore I do not have to agree with what YOU THINK makes a great leader. It doesn't make me or anyone who disagrees with you wrong either as you have so ignoralty stated.

Your opinions don't equal facts.

Could you be more specific on what action you are referring to?

I have to agree, patience is a virtue. Diplomacy sounds like a positive, but how can you ever get a good deal if you are perceived as weak or stupid? Do car salesmen give the good deals to all the suckers?

Cunning and ruthlessness have nothing to do with brutality. We want a leader who can execute directives the most efficient and effective way possible, not in such a way to sate some needless blood-lust.

Obama's many examples of failed diplomacy (among other things) has made it easy for whomever becomes the next Pres. All they have to do is NOT do all the stupid things Obama did (and is still doing), and they will be a roaring success, (in comparison).

Edited previous comment, which reinforce my assertions are fact.

Here is what I added:

That is an example of Cunning and Ruthlessness, and why they are important leadership qualities.

I'm thinking we just dig up the corpse of Ronald Reagan and "Weekend at Bernie's" it. If the world thinks we're crazy now... Just wait.

And on the plus side he'll never do or say anything embarrassing.

" Trump on the other hand would probably kill more of the world in the long term.
His policies that dare to make America great again would further increase poverty and strife throughout the rest of the world, leading to eventual collapse of whole societies. This coupled with a self secure America with very secure borders would in time "starve out" the rest of the world. "

First. Chopera is a charlatan.

Second. Cunning and ruthlessness is good. But there can be better. Read 'the prince' by Machiavelli. In it he describes the lion and the fox( cunning and ruthlessness). But he also reasons if it one has to choose between being feared or loved it is better to be feared. But the best is both. I don't think trump is widely feared or loved. But Clinton is definitely feared. I don't know of anyone who loves her. She fails because too much of her bad behavior is perceived by the public. Maybe if she did a better job of covering her tracks she would hold the public favor.

I think it is the same story whom ever will be the American next top super president talent, it is like reality show for us dummies whom keep believing same ol stories/lies..
Basically i think American leadership has been taken over long time ago and they use it to manipulate world as they please, probably they are just trying to do what ever they always has, create the way of "anti-christ", aka absolute rule of this world and its habitats.

Yeah it's a tough call on who could end up killing the most people.

I think if you're looking for short term results then Clinton will do the most injustice to the world at large.

Trump on the other hand would probably kill more of the world in the long term.
His policies that dare to make America great again would further increase poverty and strife throughout the rest of the world, leading to eventual collapse of whole societies. This coupled with a self secure America with very secure borders would in time "starve out" the rest of the world.

Tough choices to be made.

Bummer for them but America will be great again!
