The half game is better for me. It's plenty complex but not something one has to think 10 moves ahead about. For one, you can't--not knowing what each upside down piece yet unturned is.

Each game STARTS differently because of the randomizing of upside down pieces. I like that, too.

I saw the rules once on a major chess board. I don't recall which one it is. I can beat all but about 5% of Taipei college students--if those I tried are any clue.

You've got me interested in this half chess, I've had a quick search but you're right, online games seem to be hard to find.
Join the western chess and have a game with me, I am pretty crap at it to be fair, make stupid mistakes all the time so you could be surprised!

I essentially more or less swore off Western and full game of Chinese chess decades ago.

They are just toooo exasperatingly frustrating and tedious for me to be fun. I do not have ANY fun with them. Sorry.

The half game--I lost 99% for most of a year. But it taught me patience more than a lot of things. There's often a time in some games when, after 6-8 moves, the loser can pretty well guess he's going to lose and there's nothing at all he can do about it. Patience.

Now, at a park in Taipei . . . after the first game with me, most of the old codgers won't play me. It's toooo insulting in that culture for a barbarian to beat them at their own game. LOL.

It's a fun one.

Ah it's exciting!
Right now I'm in a game with a member and he is giving me the proper runaround!
It has gone from confident to worry back to hopeful confidence and has been interesting every move.
So much thinking with chess, I'm not very good but I love playing it so please do sign up and challenge me or the other ATS members.
It's nice to play a game and forget debating the # out of each other sometimes.

At my age, I've started doing only the things I enjoy--whenever possible. Being retired, that's quite a bit.
