The actual name of Mother of Pearl. That is how it is listed in guitar parts catalogs. You put thin, small amounts on the face of the fretboard to know where you are. If you google "Mother of Pearl" the Wikipedia page is "Nacre". It is all shinny and pretty too!

I know the feeling. It's a weird sensation to lie there awake for hours and hours, and finally just get up, and know that the next night you'll sleep like a rock!!!!
