When I was a little kid in Illinois and Kansas, it was this thing we just did ---
May first - the first day of May - (that's halfway through spring, people).... you go pick flowers and put them in a bouquet and leave them on
someone's doorstep or knob! Kind of like "Mother's Day" now.
I suspect it's another one of those earth-based celebrations - you know - shortest day of the year, median day of the year, longest day of the
year....and here we go round the mulberry bush.
