With the Republican presidential nomination within his grasp, Donald Trump is courting an unlikely group of voters: Bernie Sanders supporters.

The GOP front-runner has ratcheted up his rhetoric against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in recent weeks, calling her a "crooked" politician who is unqualified to be president. But when it comes to her challenger, Bernie Sanders, Trump has taken a notably softer tone, praising the Vermont senator's rhetoric and encouraging him to launch a third-party bid.

The next morning, Trump said on MSNBC: "Bernie Sanders has a message that's interesting. I'm going to be taking a lot of the things Bernie said and using them."

When you realize how much truth there is in the following skit...

Could Clinton versus Trump actually end up being...

Sander versus Sanders?

Trump is calling for Sanders to run as a third-party candidate so could the election end up being a competition between Sanders, Sanders, and Sanders?

Can anyone recall candidates being so obviously fake before? Trump's advisers have already admitted that he's been faking it the whole time:

Trump team tells GOP he has been 'projecting an image'

Donald Trump's chief lieutenants told skeptical Republican leaders Thursday the GOP front-runner has been "projecting an image" so far in the 2016 primary season and "the part that he's been playing is now evolving"

"When he's out on the stage, when he's talking about the kinds of things he's talking about on the stump, he's projecting an image that's for that purpose," Manafort said in a private briefing.

"You'll start to see more depth of the person, the real person. You'll see a real different way," he said.

The Associated Press obtained a recording of the closed-door exchange.

"He gets it," Manafort said of Trump's need to moderate his personality. "The part that he's been playing is evolving into the part that now you've been expecting, but he wasn't ready for, because he had first to complete the first phase. The negatives will come down. The image is going to change."

The guy is smart.

At least if Sanders runs third party we might actually get a debate worth mentioning.

However I think Sanders will get exposed as a phony politician.

I'm reminded of the Rand Paul vs Sanders YouTube video where they both hardline their political views Paul libertarian and Sanders socialist.

I think they are just playing politicis they aren't geniune.

The sad thing is that if Trump could do for the economy half of what he's promising, it's Sanders youth who have the most to gain. Instead of thinking they need everything handed to them because the economy is closed to them, a vibrant, growing economy would open wide up and they could do for themselves and not need it provided.

I realize it's icky and passe to have to actually earn stuff, but in the end, it's far more satisfying to realize you did, indeed, do that.

a reply to: Profusion

The reason Trump would like Sanders to run third party is that is the only way Trump has a shot at the election.

If Bernie split the dem votes. That typical political stuff.

They're both socialists, so no big deal.
