NK is proving to the world it wilm never be capable to pose a NUKE threat to the rest of the world or any country with a modicum of anti missile defense while demonstrating failures upon failures, which maybe lead to an inevitably freak accident in the country.

meanwhile in china...

China has conducted a successful test flight of its hypersonic DF-2F missile, capable of speeds of up to 7,000 mph (11,000 kph) according to sources within the US Pentagon. If confirmed this would be the seventh successful flight of the DF-2F, and comes just days after Russia successfully flew its own hypersonic test missile.

hmmm...

There are fears within the Pentagon that China might be perfecting an even quicker missile, the DF-ZF (also known as WU-14), which can reach speeds of 11,000 kph - making it too fast for any anti missile systems to deal with.

Is it faster than a laser though?

Because the ICBMs they've had for the last 30 plus years wouldn't have done the job.

I guess we should strike now then while we still can.

Goodbye everyone on earth.

this is what was happening behind the scenes while we were focused on NK rethoric and ISIS

were bombarded with msm news of NK threat to the free world and how their missiles may reach the US

The concerns are that hypersonic missiles will allow the US to launch nuclear weapons that could strike targets at longer ranges, in less time than conventional ballistic missiles require, and move so fast current missile defence systems and fighter jets could not intercept them.

The US has reportedly created a new missile as part of the Pentagon's development of hypersonic technology. But the US military has insisted that the weapons will carry conventional missiles rather than nuclear ones, as the arms race with China and Russia grows more intense.

The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency (Darpa) has spent over $34m (£48m) on hypersonic aircraft and weapon projects. Hypersonic aircraft would be able to fly at between five to 10 times the speed of sound.

New nuclear fears

In an article titled The Problem With The Pentagon's Hypersonic Missile, published by Defense One, three hypersonic projects – including the Lockheed Martin Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2 program, the Raytheon Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC), and the Raytheon/Lockheed Tactical Boost Glide – are being examined over whether they would remain conventional weapons, or whether they would spurn the other military superpowers, China and Russia, into developing more nuclear weapons.

This is a boost glide weapon, not a traditional ICBM. Traditional warheads travel up to twice as fast as this does. This is designed to reenter the stratosphere on a flat trajectory, and pull up, gliding on a flat trajectory. It has a slightly lower range, slightly lower top speed, but is harder to detect and attempt to stop in the terminal phase. The Chinese have been working on an antiship missile based on it.

Except that ICBMs are already hypersonic. A hypersonic missile that's not an ICBM isn't going to hit the target faster, unless you're talking about compared to a Tomahawk.

A Minuteman III has a top speed "above 15,000 mph". That's in excess of Mach 19. No air breathing hypersonic missile will get there faster.

While not buying into the doom porn .... while the laser is fast, the system that tacks the laser will not be. It would require some very updated predictive software.

The US is actually behind in some ways in hypersonic missile technology. Russia and India have been jointly working on an antiship missile together, as well as at least one Russian missile, for about 10 years or so. China has been testing a couple of different ways to get hypersonic, including boost glide capabilities.

The US until recently, has been content with subsonic, and stealthy missiles. They finally realized that hypersonic is its own advantage.

the pentagon should contact you so you can let them know they have nothing to fear then. and show them where you got the figures of above 15 000 mph.

When will enough be enough?
You tell me Zaphod?
Are we ever gonna have enough weapons systems,? Missiles ?hypersonic carrier killers?
Nuclear weapons stockpiles?
How much nuclear death is enough?
Enough to wipe out the population of earth many times multiplied?
Enough to blow up the solar system? The galaxie?
How many rockets does it take at 250000 each to wipe out a terrorist?
If your head is shaped like a hammer every problem is a effing nail....
How noble is all this #?
Its not..............
Its just what we do......best...

Do you even get how an ICBM works? It goes into an orbital phase, which means it has to reach a high enough speed to escape the atmosphere. Every single ICBM, used by everyone that has them has a top speed in the area of 15,000 mph, or even faster. China is currently working on one that has a Mach 24 top speed.

If you read my earlier reply this type of weapon, while slower, is harder to detect, and try to stop.

And whee did I say this was nothing to worry about? I was referring to the idiot reporter in your quotes that said hypersonic missiles, with a Mach 10 top speed can get there faster.

I read that NK owns a super EMP nuke (or what ever they are called) the size of a tennis ball and that none of the defence shield can protect against an EMP pulse
That is why everyone was worried with Russia launching they rocket (or satellite or what ever it was ) and Putin and Kim having closer diplomatic relationships .. They though they would launch and EMP nuke from space

i don't know any US ICBM that has reached 15k mph.(not on paper)
a constantly changing travel speed and altitude, ICBM, not even the MM III reached that speed. on paper it can.
at mk24 China is looking close to 20k mph. not on paper.

but this is moot.

Then exactly how do they get to orbit? It requires a much higher speed than 7,000 mph to get up there. Even if they don't hit 15,000 they're still significantly faster than any air breathing hypersonic missile.

But yes, it is moot. This will somehow be turned into the fault of the US, or how evil the US is for developing hypersonic missiles, like so many others are doing.

Laser guidance is way easier than missile guidance lol.

I wonder how much of this has been achieved through stolen technology rather than self developed? I say this on the back of several developed Western nations stating that Chinese cyber espionage is a significant concern, not just around the traditional spying on governments but the theft of commercial secrets from corporations.

Just how much of China's science and technology is based on theft?

The top brass in USA do have ships quick enough to stop anything you can dream up that I would imagine an AI could operate so in my opinion they could let the bombs hit or they could save everyone and everything's ass with a big enough fleet.
