It is so hard to keep on top of all the numerous posts - I wish there was some way to see the ones with just my own name reference, so I do not miss them and appear rude by ignoring people.

Start of another week, only four days which is good.

Your schedule sounds stressful. Do you suffer from jet lag? I had a hard time handling it. I would use days to recuperate.

Yeah, sometimes I do - got a hell of a journey planned going back - Hong Kong, Amsterdam, then France - stay for a day then go to UK. About 5 days there then drive to France (2 days).

Dreading that already.

I don't work with beginners in English. We have specialists for those. I generally teach intermediate to more advanced students. This evening was my conversation class. Some of my students in that class have been with me for five years or so. They just enjoy it and keep coming back.

With the other classes, I work with young adults. Around 20 yrs old. So we do a whole range of things, from grammar through to reading comprehension, writing (various styles and formats), speaking, listening, and learning phrasal verbs and idioms.

Anyway, nearly 3 am here, so I'm off. Catch you all tomorrow.

I don't know if you've seen this show or not but when I read what your job is, this scene flashed in my mind.


ETA: In case you never saw the show, it's about a guy (who starts out as a scum bag) who discovers karma. He makes a list of things he's done wrong and sets about correcting them. One such thing was making fun of people with accents or who couldn't speak English. So, he becomes an adult English teacher. This scene if from that.

People... just a reminder of something which ATS staff have mentioned many times on this site. We do not discuss banned members. Not who they are, or the whys or whatever. It's a matter of privacy and also is site policy. So please, just leave it be.

There is a 1970s Brit comedy that I am reminded of - it was so un PC even then, and there is no way now they would get away with making and airing it.

I will let you google it, if you want Mike - it is called Mind Your Language, and is very funny. It is SFW but is cringeworthy as it shows such stereotypical characters for different nationalities.
