Oh just tying in some of your comments to the actual thread topic is all.

No harm no foul right?

Oh just tying in some of your comments to the actual thread topic is all.

The thread topic is Harriet Tubman and the $20 bill USD.
The OP suggested that Tubman is the quintessential woman and Christian, and that only Christians have ever done anything for the downtrodden and poor.

Some of us responded to that by stating that other people than "Christians" have, indeed, spoken out for the downtrodden and poor - including Ghandi, Malala, Pope Francis, and......

as it happens, Bernie Sanders.

Not my fault that Ms Tubman's new currency portrait is contemporaneous with Bernie Sanders running for POTUS and BO resurfacing and the topic being about wealth distribution. That stuff just all happened. I'm responding to the various threads and thoughts - which all tie in together.

Sorry if that's over your head.
BO asked for examples of non-Christian SJWs. I provided them.

ETA: And, for the record, YES, I AM A SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR.
Credentialed, even: MSW 2001.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . those are not my words. I did not put it that way.

I chose my words carefully.

And, when you cited Ghandi, I noted that I'd forgotten him.

I'm not going to research it out as I need to get to an important task I've been putting off all day.

However, I believe my point was that all the very significant, major efforts in behalf of the poor and slaves were initiated by folks with a Christian orientation. That's particularly true about slavery. And, it may have been more true 50-150 years ago than recently. Yes. There are exceptions. On the whole, that's been true for a long time.

It's also been true in terms of hospitals and schools around the world in very disadvantaged places.

You can find however many exceptions there are until the cows come home to suit your antipathy toward Christianity. However, the fact remains, it has been the vanguard and backbone of major efforts in health care and education beginning a long, long time ago.

Yep! Okay.
Lots of "Christians" have done great things.

Lots of other people have done great things, too! You acknowledged it.
Have a good night. And btw, I'm not "dissing Christianity" any more than you are claiming that it is the "only helpful one." Simply not true.

But, we've already covered that.

Thanks for the thread BO.

"Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower."

I can not imagine navigating what this world has become without HIM.

I can only pray for the faith that Mrs. Tubman displayed.

.

ABSOLUTELY INDEED.

Mrs Tubman was and remains a shining light example to all who are well read and informed with a shred of sense.

Having one's priorities right is a great enabler to continuing in doing great deeds in the face of great adversity.

He WILL HAVE a tried and tested people. May we all come out as gold refined 7 times over.

Thanks for your kind reply.
