Where did Yeshua advocate any such?

He encouraged VOLUNTARY taking care of the widows, orphans, poor etc.

Yeah. He TOLD people to take care of the widow, orphans, poor etc. With that lingering implication that our souls are at stake (just being wealthy makes access to heaven difficult, apparently).

I didn't see anything limiting it to the USA. If that's the case, I'd say Bernie is it.

Hillary gives it lip service.
Brownback is definitely not into the whole idea.

I don't think He saw grudging obedience as authentic heart-felt obedience.

He was looking for a voluntary heart-chosen compassion for the poor.

Mandated socialism/Communism has persistently turned into tyranny--mostly--or bankrupted the society. There are rare exceptions and usually those exceptions have been short-lived.

I'd love for her to come onto this thread. LOL.

He was her whole reason for getting up in the morning and taking another breath, in my reading of her bio.

Her slavery work naturally flowed out of and was sustained by her relationship with HIM.

so she did it for him, not for them. glad to know her heart was in the right place.

Yeah, he TOLD them to. There was no "search your conscience, and review the degree of your creature comfort requirements. If you think you don't have enough, don't feel it necessary to share. Nah. Don't share. Pffft."

HE DID NOT SAY THAT.

The only people who say that are not-Jesus. Or even Christian. They are not-Christian.

I think you're missing some significant stuff 'in the translation.'

However, I despair of finding a way to communicate such factors to you effectively. Sorry.

I think it's more like a test.

He wants folks on His team who voluntarily choose LOVE as the higher way of life--with His help.

He knows that coercing, forcing behaviors that APPEAR to be Love is not sufficient. When the chips are down with those folks, selfishness will win out.

That's one of the reasons that Tubman is such a wonderful example. She put HER OWN LIFE on the line--repeatedly--in behalf of those still enslaved. She gave her more or less all day in and day out; year in and year out--not counting the cost--or--to put it another way--counting the cost--realizing it was dear--and choosing, by God's Grace, to pay it anyway--just as her Lord had done Himself, on The Cross.

It's more like a test of what?

Bernie Sanders is the ONLY PERSON currently in the news every day who totally stands for EVERYTHING Jesus promoted......

the Pope often discusses such things but he doesn't do something every day that makes for great MSM news.....
and then there's the Dalai Lama, who also promotes peace and humanity....

Who is testing us? Jamie Dimon? Bernie Sanders? Bibi Netenyahu?

If you think you're going to tell me "Jesus" or "God", just know in advance that I don't buy that for one nanosecond.
"God" is not a 'person', and "Jesus" was simply a wise person. If you want to say Jamie Dimon or Netenyahu, well, I am not even going to bother to respond to that noise.

There is nothing more. There are wise people who care, and there are other people who don't. It's all people. All of it, just "people," BO.

"He" is doing nothing at all. No thing. Not at all. It is all us. We. Humans. That is the only deliberate machination going on.

Well, then, as a closing remark, I will say that "He" has millions of American folks on his team right now (as well as folks in other climes and zones), and

the people here in the USA who are promoting this "LOVE" as a higher way of life - whether structured and serviced through churches or the IRS, Goodwill or the Humane Society - are VOTING FOR BERNIE.

See ya round.

Go Bernie

Looks like you are still in another thread or two.

Having another "episode" today are you?

I don't think Jesus was for giving all the income to the romans so they could redistribute wealth.

I really don't think Jesus was a big fan of the romans, but I'm no bible guy.

????

Yeah, I'm in a few threads right now - 3 of my own, and this one. And one about Evolution and Creationism.
So?

Oh, you're talking about introvert?

Whatever, xuen. You still haven't answered my challenge to post more than a snide, back-handed. vague one-liner.

I used "romans" to indicate government.

Bernie wants government to redistribute wealth.

I really don't see any similarities between Bernie and Jesus other than they may both like wine on occasion.

gasp. NOooo!!! REALLY?
*eyeroll*

Bernie wants government to redistribute wealth.

Nope. He wants people to pitch in to the system. In particular, people who have more money than God ever dreamed of.
Bernie wants them to realize that having enough is having enough. Beyond that, it's just trouble to have so much....if a person is so wealthy they need to have four yachts to get them to their private island (which has a single branch of Bank of the Cayman Islands/Panama, and exactly two employees), then they can spread it around a bit.

I really don't see any similarities between Bernie and Jesus other than they may both like wine on occasion.

Then you are truly blind.

I think the truly blind people are the ones that can't see the myriad of possibilities and solutions and strictly adhere to one single ideology or principle.

But to each their own.

I have a hard time thinking of anyone advocating Communism/socialism as a very truly progressive sort of bloke truly working for lasting positive change.

I think of them as tyrant enablers in whitewash.

Well then, I dare say you haven't had much practice. Bernie is advocating exactly what Jesus wanted. Exactly, and precisely.

If that wasn't the idea, why is it that 2000 years later, there are STILL people who think that the right thing to do is to care for the hungry, poor, weak, sick, and homeless.....
how is it that there is still any of that at all?

You've been away for a while, but I seem to recall that you are a Pentecostal type. Do you subscribe to the Prosperity Gospel stuff?

Yeah.........

......... just no. That stuff is nonsense, BO.

There are always myriad options and possibilities for EVERY future event. One needs only to weigh ALL OF THE OPTIONS available to one (no sense imagining impossible things), after having considered ALL OF THE ANGLES.
Choosing the right plan is paramount. Some plans pan out, and some don't.
Some are tried as experiments. Those experiments yield results. Some results resemble success. Others indicate a failed effort altogether - which should result in "an abortive plan". Failure is failure. It's still failure after being dipped in powdered sugar.

I think we should try the thing that hasn't been tried yet here on a large scale in the modern USA. It shows real promise. Obviously the status quo regular routine is problematic. But - whatever.
