I'll look forward to hearing what else you have to say on the subject, I like the way you have approached it from a completely different angle to me, and it's a refreshing perspective.

I covered that in my rather long winded OP, I'd love to know why it is so too, if you can find that explanation again it would be much appreciated.

You can also transpose any number like 673 for instance into 376 deduct the smaller number from the larger one and you get 297 which has a base root of 9. Again it works with any number. 6793 could be 7396-6793=603.

A cool little party trick where you can 'beat the calculator' would be to ask someone to think of any number, it works best with numbers made of 2 or more digits for example 793 and ask them to use there calculator app and dived their number with the equivalent digits of of 9. So 999 in this example. You know the answer will be 0.793793793 before they can even type in the calculation. It works with any number, but you could only do it once or twice before they caught on.
44/99=0.444444444444
826/999=0.826826826826
2847/9999=0.284728472847

etc...

I happen to have two friends and a cousin(called Nina coincidently) who also share your birthday. I also have two other friends who's birthdays are on 10/09 and the 11/09. It's a busy time of year for me!

What got me though was imagining your profile character partying like it was 1999 in 1999! Ha

RIP Prince

That's correct, I actually grabbed the calculation right off Wiki in the OP though, goes to show it's not always so irrefutable. But seen as sources are constantly being questioned so much these days I thought it was as good a pace as any to quote from.
Also

123456789 x 18 = 2,222,222,202 not 222,222,222. Again, still (9) 2's, but also a zero in the 10x place.

The zero occurs in the 9th place if you look closely not the 10th. I'm glad you enjoyed the thread and thanks for your contribution it is bizarre and intriguing stuff for sure.

I missed your follow on post somehow, good catch, it's very interesting how these patterns emerge.

If you multiply... 12345678 x 9, you get 111,111,102 (note: we left out the '9') and if you multiply... 12345678 x 18, you get 222,222,204 (again, leaving out the '9'') In both cases, the result is a (7) count of the divisor, with a '0' in the 10x spot and a multiple of the divisor as a last digit. (wow, strange) Same for 27.. 12345678 x 27 = 333,333,306 The interesting part here is, as the multiple increases, so does the digit after the zero '0', by a factor of 2.

What's most fascinating for me though is how nine factors into the Fibonacci sequence, as shown in the graph below.

Firstly.... check out problem 5 on this page. See if that helps...

from what i understood ill try to explain it like this:

Any number can be written in the form a0 + a1*10 + a2*100 + ... + an*(10^n) Where we call a0 the first digit, a1 the second digit etc. so the sum of digits is just a0 + a1 + ... an. so if you take the number and subtract the sum of digits you get a0 + a1*10 + a2*100 + ... + an*(10^n) - (a0 + a1 + ... an) = a1*9 + a2*99 + ... + an*(10^n-1) which always divides by 9.

So basically... if your number is 921 than a0 is 1, a1 is 2 and a2 is 9. Now 921=9*100+2*10+1. So if we will reduce 9+2+1 from 921 you'll have 9*99+2*9=9*101 which will always be a multiple of 9.

I cannot fully comprehend it myself but its a s close as i will get in this lifetime i believe!
