I ask this question because it was never a prophetic requirement for the Messiah to be celibate and he seemed to dig Mary Magdalene who was not a hooker and was his favorite female disciple and probably favorite of all the disciples, men and women.

And lets be honest, he was a human and did everything humans did in those days and had no problem letting a woman clean his feet with her hair. That is intimate and a little bit demeaning if you don't consider that they were probably in love and was a gesture of love between two people who were romantically involved.

And Jesus had a secret life for most of the Gospels and at Nazareth. I wouldn't doubt if during his unknown about lifetime he got busy with a girl. He is here to save mankind from hell by dying publicly, painfully and slow and he isn't going to grab some tail while he is here? He can marry any girl by saying "I know pronounce us husband and wife." I think he is ordained and qualified to perform the ceremony.

And I don't think that the New Testament records a single sexual act and only one wedding so it could have happened in secret and only him and his wife and a few other people knew about it. After all, El had 70 children with Asherah who would become wife of Yahweh and Baal, her children, so it isn't like the Gods have no spouses and I don't know exactly when and can only guess why Asherah was passed around like that or why Yahweh decided to no longer have a wife but there was a time when people considered them husband and wife.

So Jesus can have a wife, sex, and not tell anyone and any of us could be his descendants.

For what he did for humanity, I think it would be fine for Jesus to have a wife and kids in secret. I hope he had a loving relationship with Mary Magdalene and she had his baby. Or another chick but I hope it was Magdalene.

I think you are very justified in thinking those things. I, as an educated adult, agree with your take on it.

Yeah, maybe he existed, but - no wife no kids no sex ....... no.

Probably not. There is little information in regard to his personal and family life, some years are missing. It has been suggested that he married and had children, or at the very least, had a female companion.

I have often personally thought, that he had an intimate relationship with Mary Magdalene.

Me too. They don't talk about sex much in the New Testament and some apocryphal book that's name escapes me has him as often kissing her on the mouth.

And in the Gospels Jesus never claims to be God. He produces miracles by the power of his Father whose kingdom is not of this earth and all that but he still HAS a God so can not really be God.

Nevertheless Mary and Jesus makes sense. They were intimate and in my opinion when the Bible speaks of "the disciple who Jesus loved" even though it is structured to read that this person is a man that it originally meant and said it was a female. John is given this honor but he would be called apostle and a penstroke could have made it look like it is a man.

Good thoughts.

No sex before death, or after ressurection, but the scripture does mention and elude to a wife he did not have sex with but loves eternally. The Church, which is nondenominational, which is composed of people who have a personal relationship with the Father through him and the Holy Spirit are his wife.
He is risen!
Indeed He is!

This issue is a bit trivial in my opinion and is to miss the symbolism behind Jesus' story. Every part of Jesus' ministry is to be taken esoterically not literally in my opinion.

None of it literally happened, his story symbolizes spiritual concepts put into a coherent and linear story. Once one realizes this and starts reading between the lines they will find the truth.

Jesus liked to speak in parables, right? Well the NT is one big parable and was never meant to be taken literally. When you take it literally you get churches and religion. Jesus' story is spiritual not religious.

He couldn't have impregnated a woman with his vagina. Jesus only had his mother's chromosomes therefore he had to have been born with a uterus. I guess any number of his disciples could have impregnated him but I doubt it.

Maybe when he comes to save you you can ask him yourself, but really who cares?

My favorite part of the doctrine of the virgin birth is that they also trace his geneology through back to Adam but on his fathers side. What???

There are several "Mary's" in the Gospels. It was a common name. In the Gospels, there was Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary of Bethany (the sister of Martha and Lazarus), Mary the mother of James (who may also be Jesus' mother) and Mary Salome.

Additionally, Maria was a version of the Hebrew name Miriam and they were probably used interchangeably. Mary could have been called Magdalene (which is related to the word for "tower" or "fortress") or she could have been from the town of Magdala, on the Sea of Galilee.

You are correct that Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute. Jesus cast 7 demons out of Mary Magdalene.

The Biblical accounts give no special credence to the idea that there was a relationship between her and Jesus, although Jesus did seem to know that Mary Magdalene was likely to try and give Him a hug and warns her not to touch Him as He had not yet "ascended" (near His tomb, just after He had risen). I believe it is a very human insight into the characters of Mary Magdalene and Jesus.

The woman who poured ointment on the feet of Jesus was not Mary Magdalene and may have been a prostitute.

For Jesus death to have meaning, He had to be sinless. So He could not have had an extramarital affair as that would contravene the law, making Him a sinner.

Therefore, to be legal, Jesus would have had to marry.

To marry and potentially have children, when He was aware that a short time later He had to give His life (as was recorded in ALL the gospels), would be thoughtless and unloving.

The other thing is that the Gospels were originally written in Greek, which makes a distinction between different kinds of love. The love between a man and wife, implying sexual love, was written as "eros". The love between an older man and wife, or between parents and children, that did not imply sexual love, was written as "stergo". The platonic type of love, ie: the love of/or for God, is written as "agape". None of these descriptions are used in the Gospels, for Mary Magdalene.

Additionally, the Church is referred to as "the Bride of Christ" in the New Testament. To marry someone else after an earlier marriage (even one that ends in divorce) is the definition of adultery, and a sin, in Biblical Law.

So, I don't think Jesus married Mary Magdalene, there is too much contradictory to it.

I would suspect that, perhaps, you have been reading too much Dan Brown?

Actually I got corrected on that point the other week, Mary Madeleine was the woman he cast demons out of and there is no scriptural link to the woman whom he saved from being stoned, it is however catholic tradition to equate the two but they may have been different woman, also the woman being stoned may simply have been a married woman having an affair as she was caught in adultery which does not mean she was a prostitute though many former prostitutes have died martyrs so it is a misunderstanding which may have had a positive result in saving them from that life if not there lives then from they whom persecuted christian's in the past.

My understanding is that he was the Spotless Lamb of God, the final sacrifice so YES he was a virgin.

His life lead up to the crucifixion, it was why he was born to take our place and by his sacrifice pay for us so liberating us from the curse of our own inability to obey the law which is death, he saved us.

BUT does it really matter.

Lets see him instantly heal the sick. Lets see him instantly cause missing limbs , arms and legs tosprout out, then you will convince me. Bernie is just robinhood, with nothing to offer except that which he can take by force from others, and that is why he will never reign. He will just go away. He will soon be but a memory. By the way, I do like Bernie, I just dont share his views or worship him

Seriously, though... I don't think he had any children.
