I'm sometimes a sucker for the container

Before his current gig my good friend did marketing for a bunch of liquor companies. If you knew how much work went into just the bottle shape/design you would not believe me. Or maybe you would since you just bought something based on the bottle design.

I wish he never quit, I got so much cool free stuff from his contacts.

Bringing art to the masses through amphorae. A noble endeavor for millennia.

I believe a spiced cider cocktail would be most appropriate for this time of year~!

Let me see what I can come up with.

So it seems that tart cherry juice is the new thing since the wifey informed that it was. I tired some and it was somewhat palatable but I figured a little hooch could improve the flavor. I was right. This is a take on the Cosmopolitan but with rum instead of vodka. Tart Cherry Cosmo:
    2 Ounces Cana Brava rum
    1 Ounce Cointreau
    3/4 Ounce tart cherry juice
    1/2 Lime juice
    1 Cherry/lime flag

Shake the first 4 ingredients with ice until well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass and garnish with the flag. Feel good that tart cherry juice is working some unknown health benefit on you.

That sounds tasty and I love cherries, so that's a bonus lol.

Is getting drunk an "unknown health benefit"? If not, why not?

Only if you have real world problems you need to escape from.

Certainly got some real world problems lol.

Would you be able to come up with a hot variation of this for the colder weather?

Potentially. But I owe someone else a hot cider drink first so I am still thinking on that one.

No rush

I'm going to be experimenting with mulled wines next week. Thinking of adding cherry and cinnamon flavours. Hopefully the experiments don't taste too bad lol.

Well, post them here so we can see if they tasted good or killed you.

I'll definitely post the ones that killed me. Need to tell people what to avoid.

You won't need one. I'll just come haunt you and leave messages on steamy mirrors. (Not steamy messages on mirrors lol)

Maaaaaaaaaybe.....

I'm kinda curious about this wine concoction you are thinking of preparing. What is going to be in it?

-Red wine (obviously), just not sure which. Thinking about Casillero Del Diablo (cab sav) or Campo Viejo (Rioja).
-Sloe gin.
-Demerara sugar.
-Cinammon (not sure if I'll go with 1 stick or 2)
-Nutmeg
-Bay leaf
-A bit of fresh ground ginger.
-Orange or satsumas.
-Lime or lemon. Going to try both separate and together.
-Star anise.
-Cloves.
-Currents.
-Sliced Almonds.
-Vanilla pod.
-Honey.

That's going to be all my ingredients, just haven't figured out ratios or what to leave out. Might end up adding more to it though.
