Sorry Augustus!
I had to help myself, it was a celery emergency!

MY recipe:
2 oz tomato juice
2 oz Vodka
Few dashes of Worcestershire
Few dashes of tabasco (I like mine spicy so) according to taste
1/2 teaspoon horseradish
Salt & Pepper
Squeeze some lemon juice (just a tad)

Pour over ice garnish with a stalk of celery (almost couldn't find it! Who's been eating the celery?!).
Stir with the celery, throw celery away, drink the whole glass.

Best breakfast ever!

The photo doesn't do it justice! It was beautiful, truly!

I almost made those yesterday, I was going to grill up some steak but it ended up so hot and humid I did cioppino instead with a bunch of lighter cocktails.

First up is a pre-Prohibition classic, the Aviation. With the rerelease of Crème Yvette you can prepare it the same way as when it was created to honor the Wright Brothers and other early aviation pioneers. The Aviation:
    2 Ounces Plymouth gin
    1/2 Ounce Luxardo maraschino liqueur
    1/4 Ounce Crème Yvette
    3/4 Ounce lemon juice
    1 Cocktail cherry

Stir all ingredient with ice until well chilled. Double strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a cocktail cherry.

We did the Martini a few pages back but the apocryphal ancestor to it, the Martinez, is equally as good. The original Martinez recipe, with sweet vermouth, bares little resemblance to the modern Martini so I prefer this version from Employees Only which they call their 'missing link' which bridges the gap quite nicely. The Martinez:
2 1/2 Ounces London dry gin
    3/4 Ounce Dolin Blanc vermouth
    1/2 Ounce Luxardo maraschino liqueur
    1/4 Ounce Absinthe
    1 Lemon twist

Stir all ingredients over ice until well chilled. Strain into a coupe and garnish with the lemon.

This last one, the Tifozi, is a recipe I gave to Quantum for his dinner party, his reports are that it turned out quite nicely. The combination of sweet vermouth and Campari might seem heavy for warm weather but they are both low in alcohol while being high in flavor and when mixed with soda and citrus makes a wonderfully refreshing drink that you can have several of without getting your ass kicked. The Tifozi:
1 1/2 Ounces Carpano Antica vermouth
1 1/2 Ounces Campari (or Aperol)
    3 Ounces Pellegrino Arnaciata soda
    3 Lime wheels

In a highball glass filled 2/3 with ice add the lime wheels then Campari and vermouth. Top slowly with soda and stir lightly. Rinse and repeat as necessary to compensate for the humidity.

Yes maam!
Coming right up!

To be purrfectly honest, I usually toss the celery over my shoulder.
In the most classy and refined manner as possible!
