Nice bus with classic styling and modern accessories, drove a '12 around the west coast USA for a month during a round the world trip. Bright orange, blackouts, etc. Good Fun.The keyless ignition is a bit of a pain for the uninitiated... car locked itself running with the keys inside during a photo op in the middle of death valley... those rear quarter windows are bullet/rock proof.
Was going to source one back here in Oz, but at AUD$150k++ from the specialist importer with RHD conversion, was a bit excessive..... Then the young fella came along and the two doors became impractical... so one of these instead....
HSV Grange

If you enjoyed driving it in 2012 you would be blown away by how well they revamped the model, it's like a totally different vehicle. That's odd that it locked you out, though! Most keyless ignition vehicles now will not auto lock if the vehicle is running with the FOB inside.

That Grange is one fine machine.

We could only hire a mid range 5.7 R/T, a corvette, camaro, or gt mustang, from the 'adrenaline collection'.... so the dodge won out!! lol
Would sure like to try out a R/T scat-pac or a wildcat, actually I like everything about the wildcat, except the bonnet looks a bit too cluttered with all the vents etc. Your R/T has a way cooler looking bonnet-line to me, and of course the colour rocks...
Now the 392 hemi scat-pac shaker gives me a moto-chubbie... nice to see what that motor is up to when ya torque them up. Really like the idea of shaker hoods (drove an aussie Ford XY GTHO P3 for a while in the early 80's).
May I ask, any reason why you didnt go for the shaker hood? (other than the $5k premium...ouch!!)
Actually the Wildcat with a shaker would be awesome, but i guess the supercharger/shaker options are mutually exclusive.
I was actually quite surprised how well the R/T handled for a muscle car, so I would be interested to see how the new improvements have panned out, and how the chassis handles the 392. Back in the 80's I also drove a E55 Charger (340 4bbl v8), which was Chrysler Australia's equivalent to the Challenger, and she was a beast. There was an R/T E49 (and E38) Charger that used a 6pac 265 six cylinder and they always had a slight edge in handling and braking with that little less weight on the front end.
But once a v-8 man, always a v-8 man.....
(even jap (09 ISF) and british v-8s (rover Vitesse))
Now looking forwards to another stateside trip in 4/5 years... will go and check out the dealers and give the wildcat a try!!
Funny enough had a black car everybody called the beast too... also had one called Godzilla... because it was green and ate Japanese cars...lol

Anyways... enjoy driving the beast, and hope the cops stay off your tail.

P.S.Not sure why we got locked out, strangely enough the boot was unlocked and I managed to 'persuade' the back seat to fold down, and get in that way. Strange way to get carpet burns though....

I've always wondered what a police package Holden would be like to drive down under. AUS branches of auto makers churn out some pretty cool vehicles! (Loolkng at you
Falcon XB GT)

I didn't end up with the Shaker out of impulse really. The Beast was the third car in the showroom , one of two Challys, and the other was blue, with the Shaker. It had to happen right then, and it had to be black.

I like how subtle the hood looks without it, but in a perfect world, I would have had it...
