I haven't been on ATS much over the last month or so - mostly bored with the content but I do check in from time to time to see if there were interesting (to me anyway) threads to comment on. Haven't even had the gumption to put together a thread or share and interesting article.

My daughter sent me the following picture yesterday - and I had to share. The Democratic Establishment side of the insanity aisle is getting more and more - uhmmm - desperate:

But all things considered - I do want to share an interesting article I read yesterday - for those that want a view of Democratic Socialism ideas -

www.truth-out.org...

Titled:

Michael Albert, Noam Chomsky, et. al. | Some Possible Ideas for Going Forward

All doable ideas that would benefit the world and her people.... and signed by people around the world working for humanity not profit.

To try to help, we have assembled some familiar programmatic ideas rooted in diverse movements and projects. We signers do not each individually necessarily support every single programmatic suggestion given here. Indeed, perhaps none of us supports every single suggestion much less all the specific wording. Instead, we all support having a widespread discussion of these worthy ideas and of other ideas that emerge from the process, to arrive at widely supported program for left activists.

When they speak of "left activists' they mean democratic not autocratic/dictatorial left. Many consider a autocratic left to be the only left there is and it is an error due to ignorance. Keep this in mind - democratic means rule by the 'demos' or natural people - the ideal and PRACTISE of one person/one vote. Not the kind of autocratic democracy practised in the US and increasingly in other 'western' states of unnatural entities including money having the only vote.

Presented in the pieces are practical ideas in the areas of the Economic, Education, Health, Race, Gender/Kinship, Ecology and International Relations spheres of Human activity.

Wouldn't life be a bit easier if:

New economic program could seek a comprehensive full employment policy arising from campaigns to rebuild infrastructure and, in particular, to attain sustainable energy policies, as well as via the shift to a shorter workweek. It could include comprehensive adult education and job training, and a comprehensive social support system for those unable to work, whatever the reason.

A new education program could note that existing schools create subservient and exploitable future workers by providing most students minimal literacy, virtually no dignity or sense of self-worth, plus maximum training in enduring boredom and obeying orders.

New program addressing race could explicitly recognize that rights and values exist regardless of race, religion or cultural allegiances, so that while society protects all people's right to affiliate freely, its core values are universal for every community.

It could respect caregiving as a valuable function including making caregiving a part of every citizen's social responsibilities, or pursue other worthy means to ensure equitable burdens and benefits.

Maybe one more - lots of good stuff here - hopeful and possible NOW!

An end to the use of military force as an instrument of national policy.

Again the article is found here:

The revolution is here and it's about power not force. Moral power.

Revolution is here and it's about the power of stupidity, laziness and helplessness. Not the force of the peoples' will to create for themselves but the force of the govt to impose its will on the people. The power of the " I deserve because I exist attitude."

The cartoon is pretty good.

I don't agree with the policy stuff, but no surprise there.

Don't be a stranger.

Hillary and Bernie.

Still a better love story than "Twilight".

As for policy? Every 4 years, government comes up with new ways to screw us all over so the next batch of idiots can come up with even newer policies to screw us all over.

I am not on the left or a socialist by any means, but I like the way Bernie goes about his business. Clinton is like some kind of clockwork orange character. She acts like she is parody of people on the right, if they were to be in a futuristic post Nazi (and I hate these references) movie where everything is filmed by Steven Klein and folks are decked in rubber. Only the right is not like that, that isn't my thing, and I could see myself getting behind Bernie. What the h2$/ has happened????
