Only 12 days left til elections start, some members have pulled from the elections, others are wary of them, 70-100 attacks occuring daily throughout the country, voters inside the country worried about security. Hopefully, things will go ok...but it has been quiet somewhat the last 2 days over there, not saying nothing isnt happening, but thigns have quieted a little, maybe preparing for attacks at full scale come 28-30th.

I agree with athenian, the only way for Iraq to see peace is to break into 3 nations. We have to keep in mind that what we know as Iraq was 3 countries when the brits arrived (they combined the 3 for streamlined administration) This is not a natural nation we are talking about, Iraq as we know it is an artifact of colonialism.

Actually, Iraq has always existed, just not with defined borders. Iraq is one of the oldest bedouin areas, like Iran. Yeah, thanks to the Brits, they sort of screwed things up there back in the 20's, waltzed in stake claims everywhere, drew lines in the sand and things got messed up from there. This isnt bashing the Brits, but they should have let this alone before drawing lines, things would be alot different now, but who knows, maybe the French would have done the same thing or even the US.

Just need peace in the region and Iraq is the start of that hopefully.

Sadly,

peace, democracy and stability were once possible, but the reality on the ground shows us that we missed our chance. Instead of doing our homework, we threw our lot to libertarian ideals of the free market fixing everything automatically.

The Iraq Disaster may deal a death blow to this absolute faith in a big business utopia.

I really doubt it'll be successful. It's going to be a puppet gov't, and the Iraqis will see it as a US organization. It will probably be under constant attack, until they destroy it. I don't see it going very smoothly, at all.
