The Pond
I hear silence, but also hear it all,
The distant cry of a lone seagull,
The feint echo of a single bullfrog,
A soft splash,as he jumps from his log.
The glossy waters, so calm and still,
Any slight move beneath them will,
Cause ripples to form upon the surface,
Each flowing with intent and purpose.
And I'm an outsider in this place,
An observer, an unfamiliar face.
But still I feel like I'm welcome here,
I sense no tension, I feel no fear.
This place, it remains my sanctuary,
Holds so much wonder and mystery,
A true escape, when I need to unwind,
Offers solitude, gives me peace of mind.
For when life gets too much for me,
I come to this place, to think freely,
It's beauty that's left untouched by man,
It's a refuge, and for me it's sacred land
Thanks,
