This is the mud-pit. There are some people who are so hell-bent on twisting the truth and ignoring information. I'm tired of it. As for "you people" - you will see, one day.....

If you open your eyes. I just made a new post. It leads back to a pair of videos (you only need to watch the 2nd one to get the message)......and it (the new post) contains other sources for the case for raising the minimum wage.

I expect people who are intelligent enough to find ATS and to discuss these issues to throw out old tired worn-out plutocratic lobbying and political pandering and greed and cheating....
and GROW UP.

No you expect people to simply accept the messianic complex of leftist candidates and ideas as the only course of action. You call people like me greedy and heartless simply for disagreeing, and yet you're the one who want to take people's money simply because they have more of it than you do, and want to punish anyone for daring to make more than what you people deem "just".

Again, how is it greed to want to keep what you earn, regardless of how much, and not greed to want to take it by force?

You're under the impression that I am not aware of the arguments for an increased minimum wage and tax issues.

I am not addressing that as it is simply a lack of economic understanding.

You can advocate all you want for paying people more devalued dollars. But until we fix the inflationary policies that have brought us huge wage gaps, inflated housing prices, and enormous public debt, such a discussion will be had again in short order.

We do this all the time with the minimum wage. Raise it, dollar loses more value, blame "greedy corporations", for "not paying a fair wage", and continue to ignore the problems with our currency.

sigh.....

yeah, you got me. That's why. Because they have more than I do. And I'm four -- *eyeroll*

There you go again with the "you people" thing.

Oh - see, here's the thing......I don't want to "take people's money" simply out of pre-schooler spite.....I don't need "other people's money", thanks all the same. But there are people sleeping under bridges and on park benches and in sewer systems and burned out buildings and abandoned grain elevators and warehouses....
who don't have enough to eat. Who barely manage to stay warm enough. Who are living very fragile lives indeed.....

kinda like the people in Syria, for example...living in Refugee camps...except no one is coming to bring them rice and tents and stuff, because they are Americans. Pffft!!! Who gives a crap about Americans? Stupid Americans....lazy, stupid, ignorant, lazy Americans....especially the kids!! I mean, REALLY!!! What kind of a kid is begging or stealing food for his mom who is in a cardboard box under the overpass instead of SITTING IN Mrs Teacher's class on a Tuesday afternoon in November!!

Or a cold night in April?

So, yeah - anyhoo.

You don't impress me, PFC Herman.

But it is a "you people" thing. A Chorus of voices screaming about the same things telling me I'm heartless and greedy for not towing the line on Bernie Sanders and his Mob Rule(because that's what democracy is) socialism(but I repeat myself).

You act as though I've never worked for minimum wage, or been poor, so poor that my family and I lived in a Ford Festiva in Los Angeles when we first moved (legally) to the US. Or the poverty we endured before we came here.

Economics is not the strong suit of the socialist.

Edit:

I'm not a PFC...Not sure what that refers to. I'm also not here to impress you.

So.....are you 'heartless' and 'greedy'?

I don't care about how poor you've been, but the fact that you HAVE BEEN "poor" by your own First-World Standards should have lubricated your skull-gear-mechanism.......

And somehow you say the only and simple reason we protest INEQUALITY and poverty is because "we are envious"? That is the "sole, simple reason", according to you.

And it is bullsh!t.

So yeah, the millions of people who see what is happening will continue to scream, and I guess you can continue to be heartless and greedy (or whatever you want to self-style yourself as, being as you are so noble).....or willfully negligent of self-education......or a right-wing MIC troll, or whatever.

So - "you people", huh???

Anyway - you haven't addressed the actual concerns of the homeless and hungry, or the fact that your taxes are 'pulling up the slack' for major corporations who don't want to pay their employees enough to live on.....nono - YOU get to pay for their foodstamps and health care....

their employers can't be bothered.

I was poor by 3rd world standards too.

It was having economic liberty and hard work that got me where I am today. I'd prefer to have tax cuts, greatly reduced government spending, and to be left alone to live life as I see fit.

And somehow you say the only and simple reason we protest INEQUALITY and poverty is because "we are envious"? That is the "sole, simple reason", according to you.

Economic equality doesn't exist. Where it does exist, and has been tried by socialist decree, the only economic equality is the squalor under which the average person lives. Socialism is the philosophy of the envious and greedy. It is the philosophy of shared misery and poverty on huge scales most first worlders could never imagine.

I too am a fan of TED talks, by the way.

I'm also not a MIC right winger. Whatever that is

well, maybe the fact that they more than likely are the ones responsible for the upkeep of those houses, ya know when the roof needs to be fixed or the furnace has been declared dead. heck they may even owe money on the mortgage of that house, or for the initial remodeling of it to make it suitable for a person to live in to begin with, and they may have to borrow money to fix that roof or furnance....

Realestate, property like houses, should be "owned" by the ones who are citizens of that state, that country, that piece of land, they are a member of. Otherwise some china-dude or dudette can own that land, by being a share-holder, and wanting YOU to spend money for just having a place where you can lay your head down. You like that?

I call that worse than slavery, because slaves knew they were slaves. And had accomondation for free and food for free and such. Nowerdays you have the illusion that you "own" what you get from working for the capitalist-dollar, but have to pay for rent and food and such. Is that better? I don't think so.

they can't just rent them out for nothing, they'd take one heck of a risk. and well, even if they did just let people live there free of charge, let that roof cave in and injure on of their family members, and let's see just how fast they go running to the lawyers to sue the property owner of the house!! which by law, he would be liable probably.

Ohhh...those poor property-owners have to maintain their slave's houses! What a shame!

ya, the wealthy is creating jobs, in china, or india, mexico, or where ever they can legally dump their toxins into the rivers and pay their employees less money!

What was it that is wrong with the capitalistic economical system? Tell me again. I forgot.

I don't believe welfare spending is as egregious as many right wingers make it out to be. Welfare spending as a percentage of government spending is almost too small, even under Obama's expansion policy, to be too concerned with. What bothers me about welfare is the system and how it traps people. I find corporate welfare to be a far larger issue.

Subsidizing corporations is offensive to capitalism..At least it should be...But we don't have capitalism now do we?

These are individuals who have invested into class warfare. If you are more successful, if you have more, then by default, you haven't "given" enough.

These are authoritarians who want to determine what you make, what you spend, and where and how to live.

They abhor individual freedoms and liberties.

um.....so -
now you are sending very mixed signals.

Why so dismissive of Sander's' policies when you actually disagree with how things are going now?

And, how about you take back that libelous allegation that "we people" are just 'envious of those who have more' and 'that is the sole and simple reason' that we back Bernie. Mmkay? Because, you said that.

I'm not. You're just assuming you know what I believe.

Sanders is offering an unprecedented expansion of government. Obama did that and now the nation is 20 trillion in debt. Obama's federal government took over all student loans, and now the problem is worse than ever.

I have a fundamental difference in philosophy when it comes to the role of government. It puts me at odds not just with Bernie Sanders, but Hillary, Obama, Trump, Bush, and just about every other politician out there.

And, how about you take back that libelous allegation that "we people" are just 'envious of those who have more' and 'that is the sole and simple reason' that we back Bernie. Mmkay? Because, you said that.

I never said that to you.

What I did say was the policies you support are analogous to theft. as DBCowboy put it, "if you have more, then by default, you haven't "given" enough. "

That is the attitude those advocating for socialism, which IS the philosophy of envy and greed, take when discussing wages, work, and taxes.

You conflate taxation with charity which is ludicrous. One is mandatory and the other is voluntary.

You have blinders on. Most people work hard for what little they get, more than during the dark ages, more than when serfs to what today we call tyrants. Yet, while we recognize them as tyrants, we look at people slaving away today, and say work even harder, work longer hours, stop being lazy and asking that people be allowed to have a reasonable balance between work and a life.

Few people complaining aren't working harder than humanity has ever had to.

Why do we give today's tyrants a free pass?

I don't give the government a pass. They are the ones milking us, not wealthy people.

Newsflash: I want taxes to go down for everyone. I want people to keep and spend their own money.

The only way businesses 'steal money' directly from the people is if government allows it, or subsidizes it. Otherwise, private businesses and private business people CANNOT TAKE YOUR MONEY UNLESS YOU GIVE IT TO THEM.

Why are you so dismissive of Cruz' policies? Sanders agrees with him on what the root problems are. Their solutions to the problems are what differ.

Oh that's right. You want bigger, more socialist government.

I want to ask you a question. Have you ever met someone who lived in a socialist system? I have met several. And every one of them told me they paid over 50 percent taxes. One was Canadian, two were French. One other question, do you really think taxing the rich will pay for everything Sanders wants to do? They are ONE percent of the population, we are a country of 300 million. Even if you taxed 99 percent of their income it won't even come close to funding a socialist system. The only thing he could do is tax a greater number of people. And thats assuming he is somehow miraculously able to overcome the TOTAL GRIDLOCK of a hostile Senate and Congress. I would love to see conditions improve for the working class, but its not going to happen under Sanders.
