Of the 1.6 million abortions performed in the U.S. each year, 91 percent are performed during the first trimester (12 or fewer weeks' gestation); 9 percent are performed in the second trimester (24 or fewer weeks' gestation); and only about 100 are performed in the third trimester (more than 24 weeks' gestation), approximately .01 percent of all abortions performed.

www.foxnews.com...

most are done during the first trimester, 91% even... and well, here's a question for you. if this was acceptable to the prolife crowd, well then why on earth are they passing so many laws that just throw more and more hurdles for the women to jump over in order to get that abortion. These hurdles are turning many first trimester abortions into second trimester abortions!

From the OP:

This comes after a baby that was being aborted for down syndrome survived the abortion attempt and was left for 22 minutes screaming in agony on the changing table before she died.

Baby Born Alive After Botched 24-Week Abortion Screamed for an Hour as Doctors Left Child to Die

Can't be!

The fetus was 24 weeks along and developmentally retarded by Down Syndrome. Down Syndrome will almost always cause congenital heart disease, an antrioventricular septal defect. What does that mean for fetal lung development?

The lungs of children with Down syndrome do not develop as fully as in the general population Consequently, the growth of blood vessels throughout the lungs is limited. The narrowed arteries of the lungs hold potential for lasting consequences due to the increased pressure and flow of blood through the lungs. - See more at: www.ndss.org...

A healthy fetus born at 24 weeks will not have the ability to cry, let alone scream for an hour, as this story claims to have happened.

During week 16 to 24 of pregnancy, major changes take place in the developing lung. This is called the canilicular stage because the spaces where air exchange takes place after birth are canalized or opened up. Lung tissue continues to grow, adding millions of tiny new air sacs, called alveoli, to the growing lung. Alveoli resemble minute, hollow bubbles when completely formed. By 20 to 22 weeks of pregnancy, two special types of cells, called type I and type II cells, develop and line the alveoli. These cells form a very thin lining that allows oxygen and carbon dioxide to cross through it after birth. As each lung grows, arteries and veins branch and follow its growth, supplying blood to the new tissues. Tiny blood vessels called capillaries eventually grow around each air sac, bringing the developing baby's blood into close contact with the lining cells.

By the end of the 24th week, the tissue separating the baby's blood and the potential air space inside each alveolus is extremely thin and close to the nearby capillaries.

There's no way this story is 100% true. It's laced with lies, exploitation and pseudo science, par for course when it comes to the truthiness of the the pro-life community.

I think there is a deeper reason, the Poles know only too well what is on their eastern border, so 'lebensborn' has been instigated to make sure there is a good supply of cannon fodder.

Well, it sounds like Poland has made it pretty loud and clear that they don't give a flying fiddler's fart about the health, welfare, freedom, and liberty of their female citizens.

One word comes to mind:

Chattel.

I don't know but this site seems to geared more to catholic news than pro-life propaganda.
for those who are complaining about the links that have been given..

as far as weather or not the baby could have been developed enough to cry that long, well....
maybe they miscalculated the time??
my oldest son was close to a month late, the doctor was of the opinion that we had the dates wrong, I still say my son was just too nice in comfy, just didn't want to relocate.

and well, there was another case before this case it seems, only the staff intervened in that case...

Another case of a 22-week baby born alive after a failed abortion took place in Poland almost exactly two years ago. In mid-February 2014, Polish media reported in shock and disbelief about a baby girl born in the Provincial Specialist Hospital (Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny) in Wrocław. In that case, the doctors were called and helped the baby. Unfortunately, she died within two weeks due to her forced premature birth and resulting problems. This child had Down syndrome.

(same source)

this little one survived over a week, when given the proper care, and he was a few weeks younger.

but, well, the horror of this story, weather true or not, is that the baby was left without care when it was delivered alive. probably more because it had down's syndrome than because it was a failed abortion attempt, although it's possible that both could have played into it. could it be possible that the staff would have treated this baby very differently if down syndrome wasn't involved? could it be that they believed that the case wouldn't get more than a glance because of that?

I think the fact that it was an abortion played less a role in it than most people think, outside of the fact that maybe the hospital knew that there's be a heck of alot less problems with the parents in this case than if the mother wasn't willing to give up the baby. diverting the outrages to the abortion issue, instead of letting that outrage be directed at the hospital, where it belongs isn't gonna solve anything... since, well, I can't help but wonder, if they don't allow mothers to abort babies when they detect these kinds of problems, well, they are just gonna end up with more babies like this one, and remember, in 2008, they wanted to refuse covering some maternity patients medicines because they said they just didn't have the staff to meet the "unnecessary" need. I don't know if they have changed this since, but if they are still so understaffed, well, I really do think you will end up with many, many more babies crying till they die rather than taking care of them and committing the overburdened healthcare system to the future needs of these babies.

This article is about Russia, but I would imagine Poland isn't that different:
Child Abuse in Institutions
They're also called 'orphanages' but a lot of the kids have families. Families that are unable to care for them.

At least 95 percent of children living in Russian orphanages and foster care have at least one living parent. The Russian government has made a public commitment to move away from the overuse of institutionalization of children, including children with disabilities. But government officials have not focused sufficient attention on the particular circumstances of institutionalized children with disabilities.

If you really want to be outraged, maybe start here with the jacked up system that makes people consider abortion of fetuses destined to disability in the first place.

Within orphanages, Human Rights Watch documented the segregation of children whom staff deemed to have the most “severe” disabilities into so-called “lying-down” rooms, where they are confined to cribs and often tied to furniture with rags. Many of these children received little attention except for feeding and diaper changing. Many children in these settings are rarely if ever given the chance to leave their cribs, interact with other children, or go outside.

Personally, I would rather be aborted as a fetus than live a 'life' like that.

a reply to: ghostragerSo how would you feel if the lady that was raped commited suicide because she could not handle the rape as well as bring the child into existence or the lady who was raped abusing or even killing the child because it reminded her of the rapist. Not all women see things as certain christians do, and it is after all their bodies to do as they please with just as it is your body to do as you please with.

Says the person that doesn't have to carry it for 9 months...

So if I have to carry a baby for 9 months in my womb. I have the right to kill that baby if I feel like it? Cowards.

In Europe, Poland is the most pro-life country. They may further secure that title as they adopt even more rights to unborn babies by banning ALL abortions.

This comes after a baby that was being aborted for down syndrome survived the abortion attempt and was left for 22 minutes screaming in agony on the changing table before she died.

The recent legislation was ignited by the highly publicized incident two weeks ago whereby a baby was born alive after two botched abortion attempts and then left to die screaming unattended in the hospital.

link

The ban would mean that even babies that are a result of incest or rape would be entitled to life. The best part is that this is spearheaded by Polands 52 year old female Prime Minister Beata Szydło.

This may be a huge win for those of us who believe that the most innocent humans deserve the right to life.

Ghost

I find it more difficult to see how people still think its their right or your right to tell anyone, more importantly a mother what she can or cannot do with her own body. You seem to think that the fetus given life against the will of its mother is somehow going to have a good life? A mother decided on having an abortion has already gone through trauma thinking about the operation and has made the decision already that its unborn fetus would not be best brought into the world. This is her choice and the fathers choice, decision.

What makes me more amazed is that the government chooses this, however once that baby is born they couldn't give a sh*t. Fend for itself, no money, food, roof over its head. Only once its found in some poor environment, is it then sent off to some hostel like home where it will lead a confused and mentally broken life. So you tell me, is forcing a mother or couple into giving birth to a life they cannot care for then this world really is messed up.
