I remember your introductory post here. I participated in it and saw it rejected. I was saddened by that rejection because you came here (to borrow your words) 'naked.' I'm actually surprised you stuck around.

You don't need to figure out the psychology here to try to feel accepted. You've tackled plenty in your young life and you're smart. Go after your big dreams and put your energy into that.

My gut is that you would thrive most with a small handful of close friends and that a wider, internet audience is bound to not appreciate you enough, no matter how hard you try to earn stars.

Just my .02¢, and I am basing it pretty much on the profound first impression you left me.

Thank you for sharing your honest views on ATS posting .

I like to read opening posts that are written spontaneously; without planning and thinking. Even though , the author has a theme or strong message, they do not dwell on it. Instead, they just start to write and everything flows in creatively.

I am not keen on posts that are based on links. There are too many of those; especially where someone finds something interesting to them and post the youtube or whatever link . I prefer to read about someone own insight (i.e the penny dropped) rather than someone's reaction to an internet post that they came across.

In my short time with ATS (since 2010), I have often asked myself whether I have benefited in some way by posting or reading posts. To be honest , It has been an excellent medium to have a rant or to send a strong message . It is quite a big platform and far-reaching soap-box. However, if my messages (sometimes advice) have had no effect, then ATS posting has no practical benefit for me.

Still I participate. I guess, I am just curious to see if anybody will come along and amaze me.

Don't you think it makes little sense to put down something you are using?

I do not use social media such as Facebook, Twitter.

ATS is not social media for me.

I could just as well post to an Internet forum(other than ATS) that specialises in Metaphysics, Astrology, paranormal. That is not social media. There is no social intercourse. It is like giving a lecture or attending a lecture , with Q&A afterwards.

Common in the sense of how much indigenous people can relate to how contemporary systems of belief are akin.

They are akin only in your opinion. I beg to differ

Kashai: I posted then under the name of Toltec, it is unwise to form assumptions about motivations.I simply like the site.

NICE.... "Toltec"? My grandmother was "Maya". Why did you change your name (loose that other personality in doing so). Nothing NOT to like about this site. Contemporary life systems are built upon flight or fight; are they indigenous to a culture or disingenuous to ones soul understandings path?; I am more so a Creator Being living here (trapped by my own design to experience the debacle of the final outcome of a creation gone totally rogue).

Kashai is the name of a Nagual that lived when Cortez invaded the Western Hemisphere.

When I was very young I was asked about past lives; it would seem at the time I understood what happened to Kashai really well.

To be clear he was an ancestor of mine in so far as I know.

Excellent. My ancestor is Veteran Human Being (I am a newer version that Vets the human condition/experience).

I would like to retire; but have this albatross to deal with. You are having fun NOW; (seems like a good time). May I ask what your particular specialty regarding "advising" involves (telling robotics "ITS OKAY" you are loved even though a machine) or HR (here is what you do now fired) or animal acupuncture (convincing the owner this IS REAL)? I am serious.

I provide advise related to what I was involved in when I was in the field.

My Father was murdered because of what he was involved in when he was involved in the field.

Actually I did not replace him when I decided to get involved.

Which pretty much happened the day that on his death bed when my Father told me he had been murdered.

You know the thing is that the term Above Top Secret is actually a term that is relevant to how secrets are categorized in general.

You see he was my Father who had raised me to understand everything he knew.

I feel like there's a science to it.

There most certainly is.

In my Thread OP I almost always post some visual representation of something that's relevant to the topic, and I always ask 'the audience' a question to help engage them in conversation, make it feel more personal towards them, and to have a lending hand to what I feel could be an important topic to generate content for the forums.

I also make it a habit to go a bit beyond and add colored sections to my posts if a line has a substantial impact on the thread/discussion, or if it's a quote. It helps catch the eyes of readers whom may simply be skimming through the topic. There is such a thing as 'too much' when it comes to adding little things like this, of course.

Whenever I'm responding to someone else and refer to yet another member in the thread, I always Bold their name or directly think their name/comment to the post without copying a full quote and throwing code around it. For instance:

"I really find that geezlouise had a good point when she said 'And on another note, the starring system at ATS actually does elicit a real emotional response in me.' I completely agree, and also find that star-count can have the potential to reveal a lot of information in a specific member."

See what I did there?

There most certainly is a science to posting, and I feel that ATS has a very good platform to achieve this 'science', unlike many other forums.

Forget the stars awarded by other similar minion posters happen to be in agreement; pay more attention to "accolades" (trophy heads) (or applause) by those effecting a higher order in play; note this: 'Karmic' Scoring is not necessarily a grand/good thing (apologies to all in advance of this salutation).

I never stated that star-count is the end-all, be-all of determining if a poster is 'worthy' or not. However, it certainly can have the potential to mean they have a solid understanding of things and valuable opinion.

The whole point of this thread was "whoa is/as me; no one is paying any attention to me, no one is awarding me *stars* and need someone to tell me how to acquire them". There were some very good suggestions; "jump aboard a fresh new thread" within its first page inception and certain to gain stars. 'To Disrobe or unclothe herself"' (in order to gain star ship status was her idea alone).

I only read the OP, not the rest of the thread, and I never really got that impression you've concluded. I felt that she was simply noticing the psychology behind it all, of which there obviously is.

I too wouldn't bother putting the effort into the post/threads I make if I didn't feel they were making any sort of impact. What would be the point?

What makes me more curious is why you seem to be taking this so personally and adamantly spotlighting what you believe to be the case? Did geezlouise touch you inappropriately?

so which is it?

Both. The two statements are not at all incompatible. At least, they aren’t to most people.

It’s normal for workers in the same office to know something about their colleagues’ beliefs, background, education, interests and personalities.

I read you loud and clear, you disagree to be disagreeable, shape shift to to suit your argument.

Am I being disagreeable? You’ve certainly taken quite a disagreeable tone towards me in this thread. Why? What is it about what I’m saying that frightens you — as it clearly does — so much? Are you afraid of being understood by others?

I have observed the 'nit-pik' behavior in other threads of hers is all. Its the Samo Samo complaints about not getting/receiving enough attention; Being Ignored (not understanding WHY) and pandering to a particular audience as to WHY??! is all (thanks for noticing).
