This OPED piece is written in a somewhat tongue in cheek format, but still manages to capture just how much I care about having my country looked down on by others around the world. I really don't care about what other people think about me in my RL and that extends to European attitudes towards my country.

Besides the already pointed out a million times fact that the Europeans don't hate our country and are not the ones criticizing it,

This right here is completely self contradictory. The OP is a loud proclamation of how much you do care what others in the world think of your country.

When Europeans turn on their nightly news, we see the freedom kids at the trump rally behaving like some North Korean demonstration of loyalty. We don't hate you for it. Although we will mock your garish outbursts of loyalty to the great leader. Provides us with great comedy material

Why do you think Americans on ATS are so bloody self obsessed about if they are feeling enough love from other countries - are you really so insecure? I'm in the UK and your nationality means nothing to me, just be yourself and stop trying to think you have to be a poster boy for the bit of soil you are standing on, it gets embarrassing how much Americans keep doing this.

Yup this certainly delivered...

Its interesting living in europe right now as an American, it gives me a slightly different perspective on how europeans view us.

I am part of a group... runners with a drinking problem, that enables me to meet people from all over europe from all walks of life.(its in the US as well check it out people Hash House Harriers)

Here are a few things I have noticed... Euros are every bit as proud of their country as Americans... their behavior by an large is no different than what I grew up watching in the states. People do stupid things say stupid things... where I am living right now you could drop in the middle of the USA and there would be about a nickles worth of difference between the people. (most of that is language)

Whats my point... Nothing really beyond the people that like to cast stones at americans for arrogance are most likely guilty of what your blaming us about.

We after two world wars and the outright extermination of millions, yes we tend to be a little nervous when Europe is left to its own devices..

*cough* native American genocide *cough*...yep, you're a shining beacon...of injustice. As Lou Reed sang: Statue of bigotry.

What a crap thread.

Do you really want to start comparing body counts?

We are babes in the woods compared to Europeans when it comes to killing natives.

without the food stamps your well polished middle-class grocery store would be looted and burned to dust.
I love America and this cheerleader's empty crap won't put me into opposite position.
Easter teaches us that after a period of repentance we can enjoy a new life. We just need to die properly
or we will stuck to yesterday's talks and depression.
Pope said Love. Let's hate what is bad and love what is good be it inside or outside.

Hi Metallicus,

S & F for this thread - thread of the day for me so far.

Why? Because you have played a a contentious topic and then sit back, not responding, watching the c*#p storm your eating bacon and chuckling into your beer you cheeky little imp!

As to the thread itself, clearly all Americans have a chip on their shoulder about leaving the family nest. Here we are, happily muddling along (even with terrorism) and not thinking of those that flew the nest all those years ago.......
Do we have bacon? Check (much nicer than your rubbish efforts)
Do we have beer? Check (see above)
Do we have chocolate and cakes? Check (again, see above).
Heck, even our teeth are better (according to offical records) so that no longer flies either.

And the best thing, when we pig out and need new teeth and help with our newly developed diabetes, we don't even need to sell a kidney to pay for treatment.

Anyhow, can't chat longer, gout doesn't develop on its own you know!

I loathe calling myself "European" but as an Englishman I must concur to common thought.

I certainly DO NOT hate America. You chaps helped us out in '45 which was long before my time BUT it means I am not called Erich.

I adore muscle cars. All of them. You make the best.

The American lifestyle appeals to me.Open, friendly, brash and loud.

The country itself:Massive;by which I mean-vast.

The freedoms you have-not everyone has them.

Patriotism-rare even in my own land and practically non-existent here in Germany.

Your armed forces-I shall remain loyal and claim top spot for my own countrymen but yours are also the best.😉

I'll happily take the mickey out of you pie-eaters but I'd rather have you than not.

This world would be far the poorer without the United States.

Health care in Europe and the UK is paid for by taxing the earnings of workers, nothing is free across the pond, The Brits now pay an estimated 43% of their earnings (the working man in the street, that is) in taxes, apart from the air, everything else is paid for, whether they want it or not, such as two huge aircraft carriers that are now just about obsolete, what with ship killing missiles.

Hate America? Hell no. Aside from the Commonwealth countries, if the s really did htf there's no one I'd feel more at home sharing a fox hole with than a Yank. (And let's face it, apart from Suez, they're always ready to stand up with us against whatever threat the world might pose).

I don't know anyone who hates the US either.
The only people I can think of are the trendy socialists who hate their fellow English even more.

So don't buy into this hate claptrap. When the chips are down, you all know who's got your back and who hasn't.

This "European" doesn't hate Americans.

I just pity the really stupid ones who live in fear of everything they don't even try to understand because the world doesn't exist outside of their own ego.

posted on Mar, 30 2016 @ 07:22 AM

Yeah, there actually ARE people like that here. It's pathetic.
And embarrassing.

Here it is again, in case anyone missed it...

I just can't think of the correct words to explain how low-brow this behavior is. And those who engage in it wouldn't understand even if they heard about it. President Camacho, anyone?

I feel for europe, as an american I often think about traveling to europe visiting the sites and witnessing the amazing different cultures. But then the reports of people who do travel to europe are alarming to me. The cultures are dieing the once unique countries are bending over backwards to become the new middle east. When they talk about traveling as an american in europe its almost like its too dangerous now. I'm sure some smart arse will come along and say this is "stormfront extermist" views.

honestly its not

As a Brit, and as someone who works with companies across Europe, let me tell you that what you seem to believe is absolute bs of the highest order.

This notion that the "pure race" is somehow in decline here is a sicking display of ignorance.

Migration of people is not some new thing, people have moved across these nations and traversed borders ever since the Human race could walk. There is no such thing as a "pure" race or culture.

This belief that culture is being "destroyed" because people are continuing to move around just as they always have for millions of years is the height of stupidity.

You know what? Don't come to Europe. If this is what you think is going on then you're better off staying in the US and not bringing this ignorance to our continent. We have enough of this stupidity over here already and we really don't want more.

Anyone else who wants to see gorgeous people in stunning towns and cities with masses of cultural history built over thousands of years, please get on a plane and come to Europe, you'll love it!

America is so good that............................The main languages they use are all imported from Europe.

That just proves the arrogance of the OP's attitude. To say something like, "oh I don't care what that guy thinks, I'm better than him and he has weird teeth", is arrogant.

Plus, American's came from England and Europe, they are your relatives. So you're saying that your great great great grandfather is arrogant.

I am friends with American's, Canadians, Germans, Brazillians and the list goes on. One thing I've noticed is that people who don't travel are more inclined to be arrogant.

For the sake of dialogue I will translate the Op for Europe:

Many of us are mad you called us names for years. We are mad because some of you still do. We are a straight forward people and the backbone of us warned you. We warned you that "free stuff" was a bad idea it would attract flies, we always knew that philosophy and social intellectualism had no teeth in the real world and we have watched it cause terrible wars on your continent before. As a pioneer people we know survival before civilization and while many of us admire what "being civilized" brings in regards to Art and Conversation we also know it's complexities just as often tear everything down and rather be bland but safe and happy. So we are pissed as World War 3 dawns that you have let it happy again, many of us can just see it, it's the kind of thought process people who have FLED from every where else just have in our gut, it doesn't seem smart or make sense on the surface it might not even seem moral, but we know we are right. Europe is going to burn, again. We feel bad about this, many of us DO come from you, we feel an affinity and it darn right makes us mad that portions of your people always swing this direction, you are our allies and this won't even be a war in a normal manner this time, we might not even be able to help, in fact it could just plain turn you into our enemies one day and that would suck. no matter how we look at it this sucks. What makes it all worse is that yet again many Europeans act like it wont happen and it's as plain to us that it will, just as plain as it was in the days before WW2 when so many thought that Germany wouldn't be "that much of a problem. What makes it all worse this time is that those brochures and pretty pictures of the results of European Socialism entice our youth and it's spreads over here, we know what that means too, it means this time we will fight on our continent, there is just enough difficulty in our own economics to make this seem right to our kids and the truth isn't really shown, with or without the migrant issue it's just not "all that" and what is underway was bound to happen when you are given a "nice life" but only if you don't have many children and this was inevitable. We are mad, mad this line of thought will spill our blood again, mad it will spill it at home this time and that being the case it feels like Europe is lost. Knowing that we take this opportunity to "piss in your general direction" not because we can't take a few insults from the past as you thought you had a brilliant idea even though it's failed every single time and is nothing "new" at all actually but because some of you aren't even aware of it as it is happening.
