If you raise the minimum wage:

1) You have to raise other employees wages. you will wind up raising the salaries of all the employees who are making MORE than minimum wage. What do you tell the guy who worked his way up to $15/hr that the dope who was making $8/hr is now getting $15/hr. Do you really think the $15/hr guy is going to be happy that someone with less experience is making the same as he is? No, he will demand higher wages so his salary is going to go to $20/hr and these price increases will reverberate through the supply chain. After inflation rears it's head, $15/hr is still going to be MINIMUM wage and we will still be having this conversation.

Well said. Ultimately, nothing gets resolved, but everyone feels good until the bills come home.

That is a problem and why the minimum wage is topic of conversation and has already been covered in the thread.

Is anyone paying attention or are you guys just going to your auto tune knee jerk reactions.

It seems many of us ARE addressing your post and you are refusing to listen and educate yourself beyond what the MSM and the gubment are telling you!

It's the government who got us in this predicament in the first place and you are willingly to punish small business owners because of the nonsense you are preaching!

Aren't Big Corporations your enemy?

Then why punish small business owners? You do realize the more small businesses that go out of business, it just makes your targeted enemy stronger?

Maybe you don't......

…a tentative agreement to raise the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2022,

Promises, promises.

They 'gonna' raise it by such and such a date, tentatively. Uh huh, sure. The price of goods will be raised too. If it costs more to pay employees that cost is passed to the consumer. Lot of hog wash you ask me.

I'm telling that hiking the minimum arbitrarily isn't helping any of it and might accelerate the process.

But if you admit yourself that this solves nothing, then what do you think you're fixing with your hike?

Do you think that the change will occur and nothing else will change in response? That can't be because you just admitted you know it's false, so now you sound like you just want it and aren't going to stop complaining until you get it and d*** the consequences!

The best thing to help increase wages is to decrease the supply. In other words, stop importing low skilled immigrants who invariably wind up taking these jobs.

I remember when minimum was 7.50 where I live, and making 15 an hour was good, and making 10 an hour, some people would be like wow, just for general labor. like 8 or 9 years ago.

Minimum here now is gonna be 11.40, and everything been going up in price since then, and hasn't really solved anything at all. And if anything it just making the descent payed job more cheaper for the Man.

Everything is going up in price regardless.

Look at the profit margins these companies are making.

So how much profit should a company be allowed to make?

You do realize that these companies use that money to expand and grow (i.e., create jobs)? Also, whose money do you think it is... YOURS. If you are a shareholder who owns shares in said company, you'd want that company to generate as much profit as possible as it is paid back to you in the form of dividends and higher share prices.

I have stock through my IRA and 401ks in many of these evil companies. My retirement is dependent upon them making boatloads of money. They aren't in business to be a charity.

Show me proof that they use that money to expand and grow in a way that it positively impacts the communities it expands and grows in?

I think the growth and expansion they are experiencing is good. They grow into a community where they offer lesser quality goods for lower prices because of the leverage hey have in purchasing power and put everyone else out of business.

Don't sit here and try to tell me that these massive profits are a good thing holy crap.

Fed up with this conversation.

If I'm a shareholder, then no profit is too much.

Sorry I don't want to live in a country where millions of people are living in poverty.

You like seeing people in poverty go to El Raqqa or Karachi and leave the US.

I don't want slaves working for me I want happy people enjoying their job with a decent home life providing me a service I appreciate.

Sick of the #ty attitude towards your fellow man. Go to Saudi Arabi.

So.....wow!

That's very cool. Cool and good to hear.
But - then - WHY are you against Bernie?
I'm confused by your posts, man.

No.

Because it benefits me and my family. The more I make from investments, the better my lifestyle will be.

I'll not apologize or feel guilty for being successful.

Oh I already addressed this perspective in the thread.

Like I said on page one.

Wealth generates more wealth generates more wealth.

Eventually it will always end in socialism or communism every single time.

Yea, but housing here has literally doubled, same with other things, raising minimum wage is just going to lower other jobs, to minimum, and yes, it unfair to those who worked for it. Also it can make smaller companies, not Mega Corps, go bankrupt because they can't break even, or they have to lay of people. And a lot of those people who worked at those companies have to go out and look for other jobs, with little to no credentials, for minimum or unless they pull a rabbit out the hat.

And from then on, the companies that offer minimum wage, like Wal-mart pay less, get bigger then life, which is why their prices are so good, since nothing really changes by raising minimum.

I understand that it not fair for some people especially being stuck at minimum, but that unless if they don't have the time in the day working 2 or 3 jobs a day to get something else. Some have plenty of time, working minimum in the day to get a better job or one they'd like that pay enough.
