autistic spectrum encompasses those whose cerebral capability far exceeds anything in the 'non-autistic' world

What like picking the Lottery numbers or telepathy or remote viewing? No doubt you will soon point us to some independent research we could look at ourselves, you know just so we can arrive at our own conclusions?

It follows, then, that some are suggesting an improvement to neural organization as a secondary symptom of vaccination.

an improvement even!!! - sounds like how they have conveniently found new uses for thalidomide and rehabilitated it recently it from the wasteland. Multi use drugs - the rhetoric knows no bounds when it comes to the FDA-Big Pharma merrygoround

Today many people are unaware that thalidomide has been at the centre of controversy for a long time. It was banned in the early 1960s after it caused the worst drug disaster in history when thousands of babies were born with a range of defects.Thalidomide was produced to treat morning sickness. But this was only one of its uses. It was also marketed as a sedative, an anti-fungal, for influenza, and for dysentery. The mechanisms of its action are still not fully understood. If the current South African clinical trials are indeed a medical breakthrough, this will be a major redemption for a drug which has previously proved disastrous or less effective than safer treatments. The turnaround will also come at a time when the need to improve and expand AIDS and TB treatments remains urgent, and when the incidence of cancers is significantly on the rise.

An investigation into how the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the government agency charged with protecting the health of American citizens, destroyed data on their 2004 study that showed a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

It was the chirality of one particular molecule of Thalidomide (its chemical "handedness") that caused birth defects. Thalidomide is still in use for some conditions, in first world countries.

The other "handed" Thalidomide (a mirror molecule to the bad one) does not have the same teratogenic effects.

Also, the 'wrong handed' Thalidomide does not seem to cause problems after 42 weeks of pregnancy and so appears to be safe when prescribed to those who are not pregnant or likely to become pregnant.

Autism is not a disease or brain damage. It is a different organization of neurons from the majority. Some people with autism have major social or intellectual issues, but some also have incredible powers of memory and pattern recognition.

One might argue that a desire to watch football is an indicator of brain damage when compared to those who can see the Fibbonaci sequence as a repeated theme in nature.

In my opinion it looks like the film maker was on to something big or at least some of his content was too close to truth regarding present and future vaccination conspiracy. Let`s not forget that DeNiro has approved it but was overruled by those in power. He must have seen something important that would light up a controversial debate.

Dunno what to think about vaccines overall. It's right to question what's in them and examine the cumulative effects of taking numerous vaccines at an early age but I'm not sure Wakefield is the guy to bring any light to it.

Maybe De Niro did actually sit down and look at the evidence then decided it was irresponsible to screen the film based on his findings. It doesn't have to be some kinda conspiracy.

Wow reality kicking in at long last with ATS. Not everything is a conspiracy. In fact the vast majority (to the point of almost everything) is not a conspiracy. The vast majority of "apparent" conspiracies are due to human screw ups, ass covering and corruption. You know real things humans do every day.

The De Niro "conspiracy" is in the ass covering category. He didn't want to be assiciated with BS and end up looking a pratt.

I think it's the correct decision.
The anti-vaccination crusaders base so much of their belief on junk science, and although that might pass as credible in the US, around the rest of the world we have standards.

Seems to me he wanted to show the film because he has a passion for this debate and discussion, but after seeing it and being told about the propaganda within it (bs based on nothing but the usual junk science these people present as "fact") he made the correct choice to reverse his decision.

Or he just realized that it's full of the usual bs propaganda based on an ignorant understanding of science by people making money out of terrifying the living daylights out of people?

At no point is there any suggestion that he was forced to do anything. He clearly states that he changed his mind about showing this film.
If you want to claim some kind of cover up, you need to provide some damn proof of it rather than the usual suggestions and paranoias.

He wanted to show it because it's an issue he has struggled with personally, then he decided AFTER DISCUSSIONS WITH MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AND HIS COLLEAGUES, that he would not show it.

Stop making up sh*t because you can't accept the truth.

I think DeNiro is no fool and that he would have realised it after seeing it for the first time (especially because he is familiar with the subject).

So that`s what they are called thesedays.

Can you please remind me what truth is that?

This is censorship 100%.

Nope. Censorship is when a government blocks something because they don't like the message. Tribecca is a private institution and what they have done is quality control as they did not want their venue to be used for pseudoscience that the gullible may believe. No censorship happened here.

There is no data that shows the MMR causes autism and in the UK the vaccines leaflets DO NOT include autism as a side effect. Wakefield is a scam artist.

Yeah it's not like he's easy to back down. The Good Shepherd was kinda boring in ways but it was a ballsy movie that exposed a lot of the CIAs history to the mainstream. I don't see why a film about vaccines would make him brick it.

And just in case you've forgotten, Wakefield was and still is a fraudulent con-man making money off sick kids.

The FDA's own site cites autism as a possible negative consequence of vaccination, so when did the link between vaccines and autism become "debunked"?

Where?

I've searched the FDA site and I can find no such citation.

Please provide the relevant quotes, and a link to where this is cited.

Cuckooold is right, there is no such citation of it being a possible negative consequence.

What it says is this:
"Events were included in this list because of the seriousness or frequency of reporting. Because these events are
reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequencies or to
establish a causal relationship to components of Tripedia vaccine
."
