I'm sure that people care for world affairs, but this stuff doesn't affect traffic, prevent a bad performance review at work, or keeps muggers away while riding the subway.

I'm NOT American and I care very much.

Especially about the situation in Syria. There is little point in posting here on ATS at the moment though because it is all 'Trump' this and 'Hillary' that.

Ughh just vote for your next president already America. Both leading candidates are terrible choices, but I guess y'all find that out in the days and years after election day.

What really needs more coverage is the fact that Turkey is trying to join the EU, and likely will since the EU is seeking Trukey's help in the refugee crisis. Europe is being overrun by refugees in desperation, and who knows how many ISIS operatives have snuck in. If Turkey enters the EU, they would be in a perfect position to lead a Neo-Ottoman revolution.

This is an attempt to revive and reunify Byzantine and Western Rome.

It's actually pretty simple. We have elections coming up that will determine the direction of our entire federal executive branch of government, our entire federal House of Representatives, and one third of our federal Senators (and possibly decide who will select our vacant Supreme Court position). And we also have elections coming up that will determine many of our Governors, Mayors, State Congresses, as well as many other elected positions (like County Clerks, some judicial positions, many special election committees & boards, etc).

And to add to the drama, both of our major establishments are facing revolts from their largest traditional constituents. And each of those establishments is using backroom deals and underhanded methods to crush & mock these movements. 3rd Parties are slowly trying to step in to capitalize on these revolts, which is making it even juicier.

So not to sound mean, but the other stuff simply doesn't matter to us as much. In fact, these elections have the potential to drastically change US foreign policy in all of these categories. In other words, Crimea, the Syrian proxy war, and the other issues you mentioned may not even be on our government's agenda anymore, depending on how these elections go.

I guess it would be like if the Scottish independence referendum, UK-EU membership referendum, and national UK elections were going on at the same time. And if one of the major parties was trying to suppress a wildly popular candidate that wanted to hang the royal family & its surrogates. And a formerly small party had suddenly surged because of its plan to liquidate London's major banks while giving the proceeds to refugees. I don't think most people in the UK would be as concerned by what's going on in Darfur as they would their own political situation.

But if you do not like new world order (US(bank maffia)/Turkey/Saudi Arabia) playing around on the chess board with their Nazi/Wahhabi pieces would not all those things be a good thing:

Crimea is still in Russian Hands. Would you preferred it was in Nazi control?
Syria and Iraq bashing Wahhabi. Would you preferred it was left in Wahhabi control?

I don't understand who you are talking about. I am well aware of what is happening in the world. I also care very much about what happens in the Middle East. As do a lot of people here on ATS.

But that doesn't mean i want to talk about it all the time. You are mistaking the fact that we are discussing other lighter topics with apathy on world affairs, which it isnt. If you want to discuss world politics more than we do on ATS, there are more serious forums you can join surely?

Ill bet the only change that takes place is that the government finds a delightful reason to bomb the big bad boogeymen of Persia. Business as usual.

I guess you could call that change....but it doesnt really seem like it.

Crimea is still in Russian Hands.....

This is a tiresome rhetoric ... first of all, Crimea is Russian (period). Krutchev "gave" it to Ukraine ... you think the president of the Soviet Union has the RIGHT to GIVE a part of a country? The moment, the Soviet Union fell apart ... so did all it's inner "agreements", including Krutchev's "gift".

Secondly, be careful here ... in 1993, NATO decided to "take" a part of Serbia and give it to Albanian's, because the "population" being largely Albanian demanded it. (In reality, it furthered NATO's intentions).

Are you stating here, in a racist attitude that a Russian population of Donbass and Crimea, cannot decide whome they belong to? I know you're going to say, only x% are Russian ... you know yourself, that's BS ... as the same thing, can be said about Kosovo in it's day.

NATO is morally bankrupt, and Ukraine is a nazi state that intends to butcher it's populace to obedience. Torture the populace of Crimea, by threat of "freezing" them to death if the don't obey the supreme commander's orders.

The US, and NATO are supporting "removal of individual rights" in Europe, and the US. We can't "talk freely" anymore, because it might "offend" somebody ... we aren't even allowed to "think" certain things, and books are being banned ... porno, isn't HEALTHY for you ... it's gotta be banned. At the same time, Russia APPEARS as the state that avoids war ... ready to fight one, but "leaves" as soon as it has accomplished it's goals. Remember downing of the plane in Ukrraine? Ukraine used it as an excuse to utilize a military campaign on civilians, causing millions of refugees ... and God only knows how many dead ... far more dead, than died in the plane crash. Russia COULD have escalated this conflict, even to the point of nuclear conflict ... and there is nothing NATO or the US would have been able to do about. If you think NATO can retaliate ... you haven't thought it through. IFF Russia dies, entire Europe dies as a consequence ... the fallout alone from such a conflict, would kill every European in Europe.

So NATO, and Ukraine is being led by a bunch of morons who literally are a threat to Europe. Both morally, gepolitically and militarily. Even if for NO OTHER REASON, than the fact that they make the Russians look like the good guys.
