Brussels Metro attack: Video claiming to be CCTV of explosion was filmed in 2011

CCTV footage that was shared after the Brussels attacks, believed to show video from inside Maelbeek Metro station, has been proven fake. As news emerged of the third explosion in the Belgian capital, which targeted the station situated near EU offices, many began sharing what they believed to be footage of the bombing. However it was soon discovered that the video in fact came from the Minsk Metro bombing of 2011 that killed 15 and injured over 200 people.

The full video below shows the Minsk Metro attack from several different angles, dating back to April 2011.

Other CCTV footage was shared that purported to show one of the explosions at Brussels airport. This was also proven to be from 2011, being from the attack on Domodedovo airport, Moscow.

CCTV purporting to show the deadly Brussels Airport explosions appears to be fake. The footage resembles a video of the moment a bomb attack took place at Domodedovo Airport in Russia in 2011. But the clip, which shows people walking before they duck and flee following an explosion, has been widely shared on social media since the Brussels blasts took place on Tuesday morning.

VRT news agency apologised on Twitter for the CCTV footage being fake.

If they've LIED about this, how much more have we been lied to????

Who actually released the footage, an official source or a Liveleaker/ youtuber.

The Belgian MSM actually had released excuses saying it was the wrong cctv video on the 22nd

I've had an uneasy feeling about this latest attack being a continued part of something nefarious and planned...

I've seen this come up a couple times now. VRT (flemish national tv broadcast) indeed apologised for putting the wrong video out there, but that's about as far as the complications go.

It does not mean it didn't happen the way it's been reported to happen.

It was an attack in Russia Reuters already dealt with it on the day of the attack. All news channels dealt with it. Even BBC! It was just as news was breaking when the video was used on social media by someone trying to add drama without actual genuine CCTV evidence having been released.

People died the other day, there are 60 still in intensive care a lot in comas and 240 with injuries. Have a bit of respect for the family and loved ones who have been scarred for life with this atrocity. No matter what video evidence was shown in the beginning doesnt take away from people crying covered in blood. Its fine to have conspiracy theories but IMO it is going too far recently by keep pretending everything is a false flag or conspiracy you are inadvertently not dealing with evil #s who carried out these attacks. Watch the slow motion. Do you see the baby raise it's arms as it's head rises above his feet? That 's a very specific neuromotor reaction in action there. Pretty good for a plastic "fake."

That thing will to be a HUGE seller come Xmas of 2017!
